It was a great time tonight. Thanks to all who participated and for those who organized the event.

Next time I would suggest some evidence of armed secruity officers/cops just as we have at Broadlands live. Koas will enlighten you.

First - thanks to the organizers for putting the event together. While Brassy & I were not there we understand teh bands were fantastic.

The Girl came home with the normal teen; "It was fine, I'm fine, it's all fine." and went off to her room. A while later she came back downstairs almost beside herself. Evidently there was a rather large "Gangsta" presence at the show. They mostly kept off on the fringes, in the shadows. The Girl was there with a bunch of kids from the BWHS Falcon Marching Band chaperoned by at least one set of parents.

Now, that's not to say that wherever the kids went, so went the parents, but there was a parental presence. Now, here's where the timeline gets a bit fuzzy as The Girl was getting more & more upset as she told the tale. Evidently her group of kids were going off to fetch another friend when they spotted the "Gangstas" in the woods, some of whom they knew, and gave a shout out. This, for some odd reason, was met with a verbal assault of profanity punctuated by spitting.

The Girl and her freind continued on their way to fetch the other friend only to return to excited tales of an almost gang war (The Gangstas vs The Marching Band?). Somehow one of the Gangstas decided to call his cousin who arrived with Mom in tow, pointed at The Girl and said something along the lines of; "I'm gonna mess YOU up!" - evidently he also goes to BWHS. At this point I guess everyone had enough of it all and decided to head for home, Parents in tow. While on the walk home one of The Girl's friends was stopped by a Sherriff as the newly arrived Mom & Cousin decided that it was Girl's Friend that had assaulted the Gangstas.

Now, knowing the BWHS kids like I do I am cetain that not all of them had their halos on and may have contributed to their own problems. I asked The Girl if there was any kind of obvious security that she could see and she reported that there wasn't - at least not like what she and I saw at Bradlands Live when she did face painting.

Now, before anyone goes off on the "Well, let's get some parents on the scene to police the event" you have to get professional, bonded (preferably SCOP) security folks. The liability is way too great.

Over half the audience was FCPD. LCPD came b/c someone called them.
What do you mean by "gangstas"?
I spoke with both groups. You're right, no one had a halo on.
Unless you were there, I think it is really inappropriate to recount a teen on teen encounter on this thread that you didn't even see.
It was actually a really great event that had a little bit of teen drama.
This event is totally different from Broadlands Live. Is there security at the teen foam party? That is the only other event I have to compare it to, since it is the only other one that is geared to include teens.
I don't even have teenagers- neither does the other planner I did it with. Why did I plan it? Because I hope someone will be there to plan something for my kids when they get older. Because I see that there is little to do for teens (or at least that's what everyone on this forum says).
I take personal offense to this posting. You know who I am. If you think there needs to be security you could pm me. Why cast this event in a poor light in a public forum? If you ask me, you're just gossiping.

    Sunny;

Yes I know who you are so let me give you some advice. As someone who dedicated 10 years of his life to volunteering to youth organizations in thios area all I can say is this: Get a thicker skin. I did not attack you or the event in any way, did I? IN FACT I think I thanked the organizers of the event - did I not? I'll answer for you - yes I did.

"Over half the audience was FCPD. LCPD came b/c someone called them." What? Seriously? From moment one? Doubtful. If they really where ther they, evidently, did not make their presence known.

"Gossiping"? OK - so I'll just chalk up the 3 hours Brassy and I spent on calming The Girl's fears to ghosts? The IRS? SilenceDoGood? So YOU are calling MY GIRL a LIAR???? Step up, chick.

"Gangsta": Real thugs or Poseurs strutting around talking about being from "Th'hood" or "Th'Ghetto" and making real threats. Got it?

Is there security at a teen foam party? How about a fence & life guards? So, yeah - there IS greater security.

"Unless you were there, I think it is really inappropriate to recount a teen on teen encounter on this thread that you didn't even see. It was actually a really great event that had a little bit of teen drama. " - I'm a concerned parent trying offer a recounting of what my kid brought home in the hopes a better event can be done in the future.

I never called anyone a liar. But you just called me one. FCPD was there for pleasure, not for business. But they were there.

I definitely don't appreciate your post and it's not for lack of thicker skin. I think your family is really great, I don't have a problem with you- I just wish you had contacted me directly. I hope The Girl is okay.

Please, you may lump me in with ghosts and even gangstas, but not the IRS :) I'm not that scary, am I?!

Kaos, if you are going to be President, you need to calm down and develop some thicker skin as well. Relax, it's just a misunderstanding on both sides. Now hug and make up.

While I agree that they may have been there, you can not have something that draws in people from all over the area without some symbol of security or authority. Please don't' think of this a criticism but advice, you should arrange for security presence and not count on some off duty police to do who is in attendance of a concert. While they may have been there, as you said it was for their own time.

The amount it cost for this would easily be out weight by all have a good, safe and secure time.

    Just a thought
