Presidential Golf is closed...

According to an article in the Post, the Presidential golf course (the one on Waxpool across from AOL) is dead. Can't say I'm surprised, it seemed ill-conceived for this day in age (maybe it would have succeeded in the Gorden Gecko 80's or Dot Com boom).

 

what a ridiculous waste of time, rescources and money! what are they gonna do with all that--- nothingness?

 

I hope they make it a public course. the holes that are completed look in great shape!

 

omg - i hate to say it, but that's hilarious! what a fiasco it's been. i hope they turn it into a public course too. i'm not surprised they weren't making it by just offering corporate memberships.

 

especially with all the AOL high level execs moving to New York. Wow, I wonder how much they lost on that venture. I bet the land is still valuable--we need another strip mall or some townhomes perhaps

 

Maybe they could put a hospital there.

 

Yep but the non-hilarious part is that they have not paid the contractors for months. I hope these good folks get their $$$.

 

i'm thinking 4 story apt bldgs, attract some DINKS (Double Income No Kids) who don't need a culdesac or yard for kids to play in! we need to cram ppl into every corner of Ashburn to prevent yet another failed restaurant from coming up and coming down.

in all seriousness- public course is a wonderful idea.

 

Don't forget that they need to make sure they add some new traffic lights to Waxpool. We don't have enough on that stretch of the road...

 

I know one of the owners and ate there. It was VERY good. He was going to get me onto the course...but I hadn't taken advantage of it yet...guess it's too late now. Not sure what happened...but I'll check. I'm sure if I asked him now, he may be a little sensitive about it.

 

think the government will bail out the golf course so they can pay the contractors...?
