Just that we would tell you that when we were out shopping today in the Sterling areas, that we saw where the Barbeques Galore store in Sterling (at the Potomac Run Shopping Center--where Sterling Target is located) is going out of business. Also, the Linens 'N Things at Cascades Marketplace in Sterling, is also going out of business.

Both stores have great sales--so check it out.:)

Is Linens N' Things at 30% yet?

Because 20% is coupon prices and I noticed the liquidators raised some of the prices.

    Shame.

I was over there on Sunday. It is currently 20-40% and it looks like about 75% of the store is at 20% tagged. No coupons allowed. Electronics was 30% along with some of the flatware. don't remember what was 40% though. By the way this is for Linens 'N Things, I didn't make it to the BBQ place.

Also check out Hot Coupon World.com's site for discounted coupons/offers for "Big Box" stores, Going Out of Business sales, etc. Web site is below--

    www.hotcouponworld.com (Hot Coupon World's site/info.)

Other stores like BBB (Bed, Bath, & Beyond) may also take Linens "N Things Competitor coupons. Just check out their policies.

BBQ(s) Galore also had a great sale--Going Out of Business sale.

Has anyone been by Linens and Things lately for latest sale? I was there last Wednesday and it was at 25-40% off and wondering if it is higher yet...

As of Wednesday their discount wass still at 25 - 40 percent. The liquadators are moving very slow with discounting. Everything is on sale Dysons included. But if you can't get a Dyson for $250 or lower it isn't a good deal. You can find them brand new at that price or if you aren't afraid of refurbs they can be purchased with ful kits for $199.

People are clearing out the store, and it's a shame because they are only saving 5 percent.

Went today everything 25-50% off. The Dyson's are all floor models, look like crap and the cheapest was $322. Not worth it in my opinion....

If anyone goes back this week and sees lower markdowns, will you please post again here? Thanks!

Sigh. So the economy is forcing shops to close and they are offering great savings. But due to economy I have less discretionary money to spend, so I can’t afford to take advantage of these great sales.

Because I, and I am sure many others, are buying less, more shops will close and offer more great deals, which less and less of us will be able to take advantage of.

So we will buy less and …..

Can I get off this merry-go-round? I am sure we are plum out of brass rings.

I'm not surprised LNT is closing. The store was often dirty, their location was bad, and the staff was most unpleasant during my last visit. I haven't darkened their doors in almost a year now. BB&B is far better IMHO.

agreed. i spend a lot of time talking about what WE- as residents- can do for businesses, but these biz owners/mgrs have an even BIGGER responsibility to appeal to US. and to even go above and beyond when money is tight, competition is fierce, and consumers are clamping down on how they spend- where and on what.

this board is a perfect example: if you stand out- for better or worse- we will talk about it here.

    I agree.

Once the corporate decision about location is made, there is little the staff can do about it.

However, the individual store managers and employees are directly responsible for how clean the store is and how the employees deal with the customer.

Unless you are offering something unique, If I don't feel comfortable coming into your store, my chances of buying anything drops to pretty close to zero.

A store is offering the customer two things

A product and a service. Failing to offer something good in either catagory spells economic disaster for the store.
