I'm looking for recommendations for a new nail salon. Specifically, something affordable (not looking for a $60 pedicure) and a nail tech who is good with trimming around the cuticles. My old favs have left their jobs, and I'm tired of trying out new places just to come out dissapointed. Thanks in advance for your response!!!

Diva Nail Salon off of Waxpool/Truro Parish (behind the Sunoco gas station). Spa pedi is $42. Reg. pedi is a lot less ($28 maybe?). Lee is good as well as Nina.

Mimi at Joy Salon in the Southern Walk shopping center is fantastic! Their regular manicure is $16 and includes the paraffin dip. Most places charge at least $5 extra for that. Everyone is very friendly, and you feel like you your are getting more than a $16 manicure.

I've also been happy with how conscientious they are of keeping everything sanitary.

As a comparison, last week, I was short of time and had a manicure at Radiance while I was getting my hair colored. Never again. $25 for a basic manicure, they still soak your hands in warm water (most places won't do that anymore, they put a cuticle softener and wrap your hands in a warm towel or put them in heated mits). Felt like I was in a chop-shop rather than a "spa".

BTW, I believe Mimi is there Wed-Sun

I love Diva on the weekends! Dai and Lin are fabulous and strive for extraordinary customer service. Nina is one of my favorites.

cindy and van from diva nails are now at oasis (in that shopping center on the corner of shellhorn and waxpool by papa johns). i really like cindy. i had a few issues with getting cut (more than once!) by one of the girls at diva (before it was diva - elite?), so i'm a little jumpy.

I am very picky about my nails and have found David at Joy Salon to be the best at acrylic/gel nails.

i haaaate getting my nails done but NiNi at Diva Nails does a great job- she was very understanding about how sensitive my fingers are and what a big baby i am and made what is normally torture for me into a pretty nice experience.

Ahh, it is so good to be a guy. I either bite my nails or use a pocket knife to trim them down.

Good to be a guy. LoL

    Redon1 - I do my own nails....when I've had them done in a salon, they don't last.....and then it's a waste of money to me - would rather put my $$ elsewhere...like food! :)

i am NOT surprised by this tyger.. and i am STILL waiting for my brachiole. no i will NOt let you forget! lol ;)

i occasionally need FAKE gel or silk nails- they keep me from a bad picking habit since i can grip anything with them on, lol i can honestly say i have never gotten a manicure that wasn't the result of a misguided gift... lol

i prefer steak over pampering any ol' day...

Thanks for the update on the ladies. I went in to Elite? 2 weeks ago and it felt like a mgmt change had happened again. Not the same people inside. I may try the new one at Shellhorn next time.

Have you seen Nina at Diva lately? She's been my favorite but she wasn't there the last two times I went.

SuAnne at Tiffany Nails in Ashbrook Plaza (by the Teeter, Broadway Shoes, AC Moore). She's awesome at gel nails.

I know for their manicures they include a paraffin wax. I don't get those because I wear gel.

Van is back?!?!?! She is the reason I keep asking for referrals... since she left Diva I haven't been happy with anyone else. Thanks for posting this!!! You've made my day! Do you have the phone number for Oasis?

FWIW-I switched to Joy Salon awhile back (from Diva/Elite) and I really enjoy it!
