I did a search on here to look for good interior painting companies and notice they were dated back in 2005-early 2008. We are planning on painting our living room that is 2 story high and was wondering if anybody has had their inside house painted since 2008. I did contact Kris and he came out today to do an estimate but am looking for other companies with good reputation to call as well.

    Thanks

    Thanks everyone..

I did call RJ Painting and he was able to come to my house this afternoon since he was heading to Home Depot in Ashburn. So thank you for the recommendation. I have another company coming tomorrow ( American's # 1 Powerwash, Inc.) that does painting and Certa Pro on Saturday.. Anybody know about these two companies.

We've used Jon Miller Painting multiple times. Always impressed with their quality of work. I believe they just did my neighbors house as well. I can't recommend anyone else

    Jesus Crispin - JC Painting
    Cell] 703-932-2743

Jesus was one of the painters that Van Metre used for the initial Southern Walk townhouses. Several of the townhouse owners, including me, used him. Great work at a good price.

We used Jose Iglesias- 703-296-1983. He painted the outside of my house, my 2 story foyer and he did the drywall in my basement. Excellent work and price- he beat a couple of the people that you got quotes from. Tell him Belinda recommended him when you call.

Certa Pro ( Gary Cobb from Leesburg) painted the interior of our house and we were very pleased. Their work was outstanding including the clean up after the painting job was completed! We had initially planned on having the work completed in three stages but were so satisfied with stage one we scheduled the whole project.

Even though you found someone, just have to echo recommendation for Jon Miller Painting. Did one level of our house and were very good, professional, and fair.

We just finished painting the interior today. We used Jose Melgar. 703-585-8243. I can't say enough good things about him. His work was impeccable; his price fair; he's reliable; and kept us up to date during the storms.

I had a very different experience with Melgar. He did terrible mud-work, such that the surface was not smooth. The windows were not caulked as I requested, so there was fresh paint over a cracked surface. The cut-in work was bad, so that the old color showed through, and we had a two-tone ceiling. I immediately noticed the ceiling and he insisted that it was only that the paint was wet, and that if it didn't dry properly he would fix it when he came back to do another job. Considering what he left us with, and at the price I paid (over $75/hr), why would I have him back for another job? It was no small thing to remove everything from that room except a few large pieces of furniture -- and we even moved those into the center of the room! In addition, there was paint and/or compound left on several surfaces that I had to clean up -- not only door knobs, but knobs on furniture drawers.

He and a helper arrived around 9 a.m. and left by 1:30 p.m. even though I voiced concerns about the work. The stated reason was that his helper worked nights -- well, why did Melgar bring him then? Did he really think this was a 4 hour job? We had been very flexible about when the job needed to be done, he was the one who pushed to do it right away. In addition, he needed me to pick up extra paint in the middle of the job, calling my cell and interrupting an activity with my daughter, so he was not able to estimate the material resources he would need either.

    TJ with Paintworx (http://paintworx.net/, 703-906-7868, twiseman@paintworx.net)
is making things right, so I am paying for the same job twice, but why would I have some one back who took so little pride in their work the first time? Melgar may be good at some things -- the thread at this forum with pictures of the cabinets he painted are one of the reasons I hired him -- but I would NEVER have him do mudwork again, nor trust him to bring sufficient human or material resources to complete a large job. I dunno, maybe he was just trying to help a friend, but he hurt us in the process.

Here, have a look at my two-tone ceiling and one of the many places with see-through paint (hopefully I figured out the upload):

Terri, will you please report back on Paintworx's quality?

We had a similar experience with a painter highly recommended here. A two day job was completed in one day and the results show. Some surfaces requiring two coats of paint received one only - same thing with the crown and base moulding. Areas of the ceiling (one coat) were missed. At first glance one would say it was a job well done, upon closer inspection you see the imperfections. It seemed the majority workers were day laborers, taking direction from the "foreman" who seemed like the only person really employed by the contractor. It was disappointing.

We just had our interior painted by Certa Pro too and are really pleased. I like the guaranty they provide along with no payment until 100% satisfaction; the crew was very attentive to cleaning up each day; would definitely use them in the future for other work.
