Wow! You folks are dramatic around these parts! Thanks to those of you who spoke up for me while I was at work today.

I don't think I insulted anyone. The adjective "narrow" is neither positive nor negative. It's just...umm...NARROW.

And its not hard to accept that people may have different opinions. It seems to me that you're not accepting my opinion that people with those other narrow viewpoints had the wrong opinion. Where's the love?

I never said "narrow minded". Read my post. I said "narrow viewpoint".

Yeesh. This is exactly why I never posted on the issue before.

I think that you misread what Cliff said. The Supervisors turned down BRMC because there is a greater need for health care on rt 50. If this really is the case then than they should make INOVA build there 1st. To just keep adding to Lansdowne defeats the whole reason they turned down BRMC.
Everyone including INOVA has been saying it needs to be on rt 50. So since there is a need for new beds make it on RT 50 and RT 50 first!!!!!

The parcel is undoubtedly too valuable in the long term for a low value use, but in the short term with the real estate market down, an alternate short term use could be a cash generator. If I were HCA, I'd consider razing the trees now and getting some value out of the parcel. Maybe some gravel and a chain link fence and rent out space for storing boats, campers, trucks, and equipment. A cinder block building with some garage doors to store stuff in would be a later addition. If such a use is within the zoning, it may also have also have a retributive side effect...

For a fellow Wahoo, I'm shocked as to the naivete' of that response. There IS a market otherwise HCA wouldn't have even wasted their time and money.

Our BOS has be brought and sold by Inova, boys and girls.

If ANY health system wanted to put a hospital anywhere in Inova's catchmen area you'd get the same response.

This is NOTHING more than 100% turf protection and restraint of trade.

It's a sad day for us as healthcare consumers, boys and girls. Glad you all enjoy spending more for your health care. I for one, do not.

Narrow minded/narrow viewpoint. What it means is limited in size or scope, barely sufficient (or slender). It doesn't really matter-- either way you were saying that others that disagreed with you did not have the broadminded view that you believe that you have solely because they disagree with you. You can disagree with someone without telling them their view point is narrow. It certainly isn't a compliment. Not much respect either way. And I have not posted on this particular thread before either. If you say something, you own it. As I said earlier, I was just moved to speak up with this comment. I'll exit and let you all get back to the topic...just wanted to inject a friendly reminder that we're neighbors here and can't we be a little kinder?

So now my taxes go up, I am not going to get any new services (which we need)... and for Broadlands and the local business owners in our community this is a shot in A**..................... Reality is we do not need a u-store and companies are not investing in new buildings right now (look how many are currently vacant)....

    So dumb

I second Cliff's proposal; The 5 members of the BoS made it clear that they prefer a hospital to be built on the Route 50 corridor. I would expect them to deny all Inova requests to expand their current facilities until Inova makes good on its promise to build a hospital on Route 50. If the BoS approves expansion of Inova medical services anywhere else in the county other than Route 50, I will take that as proof of what I consider the hypocrisy of their votes on Tuesday.

It's a sad day for Loudoun County. Throwing away a guaranteed tax revenue base and forcing the residents of Loudoun to pay higher taxes for less services in order to make up the difference. All this so that we can be faced with the monopoly of a non-profit Inova, who I believe pays little to no taxes back to the county... Way to go BoS. Thanks for looking out for your constituents...

And now, we all get to enjoy less services at a higher cost for the next 10 years. Wonderful!

God Bless America! I think this is great news for the whole community, regardless of which side of the issue you are on. Maybe this whole issue will go away now, and the people on the HOA can stop spending so much time and attention advocating about building a hospital.

Wow. Can I have a hit of what you're smokin'??? Curb your enthusiasm there, sparky.

I certainly don't share your joy. In some sadistic way, I very much look foward to those of you who opposed the hospital because you believed INOVA's voodoo magic will feel the impact for years to come. More "great" health care at higher prices for years and years. Luddites! Curse you all.:devil2:

I won't say narrow-minded but I will say short sighted.

With the loss of the hospital, the County also loses the increase in tax revenue. How is this going to affect our individual taxes and how deep will the cuts be at our kids' schools?

How does this affect the continuation of Broadlands Blvd to Belmont Ridge?

My family's house was in the fallout zone, so having them ignore our concerns, belittle our views, advocate to make our lives worse, etc. was daily torture. My mom spent many nights without sleep, was on the verge of a nervous breakdown... She managed to find a positive outlet in advocacy for the community, but she will carry scars with her for a long time.

Regardless of your views, you should be able to see that is wonderful that the days of torture are now over. Hopefully, they will not find another helpless target.
