    Hi everyone,

I was contacted about a family living in the Broadlands that is in dire need of some help getting their household set up. They have moved from the women's shelter but need a lot of items to get started in their new apartment. Mostly needed are kitchen items, such as pots and pans, dishes, microwave, toaster oven, utensils, and silverware. She has three small children, so I am sure childrens clothing would also be helpful, I am going to find out the age of the children.

If you are willing to help with this, please contact me. You can drop items off at my place on Stonewheel Way, and I will make sure it gets to the family. I am home all weekend, I may even be working from home all week next week, I should be finding out soon.

This is a neighbor that needs help, so if you have anything that could help them out, please do ... that's what we're all about after all.

Can you tell me the ages and sex of the children? I would be able to donate boy clothes and some toys if needed. I will also check about the kitchen items--I am sure I have some things I could donate.

yes, once you find out the ages (and sex) of the children, please let us all know. I have some toys and some clothing that, if age appropriate, I'd be happy to donate.

Here is some more information. The chilren are 7, 5, amd about 18 months. The oldest one is a boy, I should be able to get the sex of the two younger ones on Tuesday night the latest, maybe sooner if we're lucky. Sorry about the delay on this.

Thank you all for your offers to help, this is what this group is meant to be at least for me ... helping neighbors in need.

I had an offer for a TV, if we can't find a TV stand for it I will probably pick one up at Walmart, they are pretty cheap. But if someone has a TV stand that can fit a 32" TV, let me know. :)

It is so cool that people here are willing to help out a family they don't know. :)

Maybe, just maybe, I might start liking humans after all.

    Marianne,

I have a dining table and 4 chairs (Yield House Furniture) that we would be happy to donate, as well as several odds and end kitchenware. We have an extra (brand new) DVD player too.

As for their 18mo old, it is a boy? Our little guy can part with some of his toys and DVDs

I guess if we get duplicates we will be "forced" to help out another family in need. :)

The microwave was dropped off already, thank you so much. Apologies for answering the door in my valentines day PJs, I had surgery and am still trying to be comfy while at home .

I am going to find out about a dining room set, I am not sure how much room they have. I was wondering if she has a high chair for the little one, I will be asking about that also, I know that the shelter provided her with some items, but I don't know which items those are.

Tuesday I should know more. :)

    Hi Marianne:

I have a 32" Sony t.v. that I have for sale, but someone directed me here, and now I'd like to donate it to this family if they are interested. Just let me know.

    Thanks,

    Tim

    Everyone,

the current status is as follows:

The children are a boy age 8, and two girls, age 5 and 18 months. They don't really need clothes or toys right now, because they are space limited. The TV and entertainment center will be very helpful, they are checking with the landlord about room for the washer and dryer, they would like it but don't know if it can be placed anywhere.

We have the microwave, one item that they really need is a toasteroven, because she has a stovetop, but no oven to bake in. So if anyone has one laying around, let me know. Waiting to hear on the high chair, if she needs it I will let the people that offered it know in PM. Other than that, kitchen items are the important things, dishes, pots and pans, silverware, bowls, etc.

I am so impressed with everyone, this was just unbelievable. I was actually given two TVs, so the second TV I will just leave in the garage in case I get another call. Since this was the second time I was contacted directly for help I assume it will happen again. I'm not planning on having a thrift store in my garage, but some big items sitting in there won't hurt anyone, and it's better than throwing it away, someone will be able to use it at some point.

Also, I had some PMs from someone about spirit wear for the school that the boy goes to, with an address to pick it up, but somehow it disappeared from my inbox. Could you please PM me again? Thank you so much.

Again, thanks to all of you generous people,

    Marianne

Marianne, Let me know if she needs any other furniture. I have a full size (slept in twice by my mother in law) iron bed, with 2 sets of comforters, 4 lamps, 2 desk, bookshelf, kitchen table, 4 chairs and a couple of boxes, 2 sets of mixing bowls (stainless steel & plastic), various sizes of pyrex baking dishes.
