I received a question about the Day Care Resolution.

The Board has been planning to issue a resolution regarding home daycare facilities in Broadlands. It is designed to clarify hours of operation, number of children allowed, etc.
Without our own resolution, the HOA Board has no ability to restrict these businesses beyond what the county allows.

If the Board comes to an agreement on wording, I will request that the Resolution be published in the February Newsletter and a meeting be held the first week of February to solicit community input. We will then plan to adopt it at the February Board meeting.

    Cliff,

Is this the meeting that any concerned Broadlands residents should come to... to voice their opinions for what should be in the resolution? Or should those residents come to the meeting in the first week of Feb that you referred to?

All residents are welcome to any of our board meetings to express their opinions.
As for the resolution we are just working on finalizing the wording tonight from what our attorney updated. The agreed upon wording is what will be published for comment at a Feb meeting. Public input on all issues is always welcome.

OK thanks for the info. I won't be able to make it tonight, but the more important meeting sounds like the one in Feb and I should be able to make that one.

    Thanks

As I mentioned, the resolution will be in the February Newsletter. There will be a meeting for residents to provide input on Tuesday, Feb.3 at the Nature Center, 7pm.

Essentially, the resolution mimics county/state guidelines.
It is proposed that home daycares will further be restricted to operating Mon-Fri, 7am-7pm.

I saw in the February newsletter that the board declined to participate in the HGTV proposal. I was just curious to find out what that proposal was since I have not seen anything regarding it.

HGTV wanted to do a reality series, that followed HOA members and the board through a conflict from start to finish. Seeing as we did not feel there was anything interesting enough to make a show and the fact that we would have no control over how the community was featured we did not feel this was the best use of community time or resources.

Perhaps, but then we all now that realty programming - even by HGTV -will cut out things to make it look lik they want it to, therby running the possibility that our community will look worse than better.

I could go either way on this one = personally I thought it would have been a good idea for them to do it around the Southern Walk HOA and OB :)
