Today our mailbox was bashed and we would like to know if anybody else had this problem. I was not home when it happened and my neighbor did not see it but she came out and said the mailbox was in the middle of the road along with the mail all of the place. There was also a damage trash can at the same location. She is a great neighbor and she cleaned it all up and put my mailbox on my front step.

The trashcan belonged to my neighbor two houses down. The timeframe that this happened was between 12:15pm & 12:50pm. From my understanding when calling HOA this also happened on Awbry court and someone got the make of the car. They said it was kids holding the trash can out of the window and then bashing it into the mailbox.

I have called the police and I really hope that the folks on Awbry did this to since they have some car details. If anyone please let me know so that we can get this stopped. Now my mail will have to be held until I can get this fixed.:shakehead:

this happened today on our street as well. wasn't our mailbox, but a neighbor told us she saw kids trying to steal our trash can but gave up because it was too full. they destroyed another mailbox on our street. ours was destroyed a couple months back. this neighborhood sure is going downhill fast.

What street do you live on? I live on Chickacoan and I know that Awbry was also hit yesterday.

Now This happened again today to my neighbor accross the street and the did use a full trash can so trash was also all over the place. Do you have any details of the car, license plate etc.

The police should be called at 703-777-1021. We met with Officer Jappell and he also said that he would prefer e-mail that he gets right away on his blackberry at: edward.jappell@loudoun.gov.

What someone spotted was two boys in a silver honda accord and they do not look any 16. We really need to get a license plate number so these kids that are up to no good.

I can almost guarantee you that the kids doing this live in the immediate vicinity.
I know that they have been spotted. Most "utes" aren't smart enough to do their damage away from where they live.

Keep an eye out in the area for that Honda.

I just emailed Officer Jappell. I called the Sherrif's office last week on a parked silver honda accord. The deputies arrived and actually put both teens in the cruiser. I hope there is a link.

Additionally, does anyone know how I can ask for a street light to be installed near a playground area? I live near one and it is a breeding ground for teens to come and mess around in a pitch black spot. I find beer bottles, cigar shavings (emptied out cigars for smoking weed), and condom boxes

I'm wondering if this is any way connected to the attempted burglary in Southern Walk? That was in the mid-day as well.

Iif you are talking about the one earlier this week, I am not sure. When the deputies arrived they told me the incoming calls reported a dark sedan. I did give them a dvd with video footage of the prowler.

I live on Awbrey and I got my mailbox hit around 12:30 PM on April 1st. I called the Sheriff Thursday night. It was the same deputy, Deputy Jappell. He apologized for being late but he said he got flagged down from someone else reporting a mailbox bashing by someone driving a Honda.

That was the weird part because down the road from our house was the trash can and recycling bin from NewVision. They collected our bin the previous week so I had no idea where it came from. I assumed it was my neighbors but then again this was Wednesday so there would be no reason to have it out yet.

So apparently the MO is the same as everyone else's. Mailbox hit by a trash can propeled by people that think life is just a big joke.

I also reported this to the Postmaster Inspector General's office since you know it is kind of a felony to do what they did and they can be fined up to $1,000 or 3 years in jail. I figure if they get caught I am sure their parents will just pay the money and forget about any other consequence.

First it was the vandalism of the signs off Claiborne, then the road racing behind my house on Truro and now this. Oh, did I mention the rampant illegal drug culture going on? Why am I not surprised that instead of being in school, these kids would rather destroy someone else's property.

Not sure "burglary" is the right word. Someone was spotted trying to open a garage window and climb in. They didn't get very far because I think the house alarm went off, and the very alert neighbors saw it and called the police. I don't know if the guy has been caught, but he was caught on video so I think the police have a good idea of who they're looking for.

Three members of my family live in Broadlands and we're ready to put an offer on a home there Monday, so its pretty good I'll be living there within the next month, but it seems like the level of crime has gone through the roof lately. Is this even accurate? All my relatives talk about is the teenage drug use and lack of respect of property. The paper is full of reports of vandalism. Just wondering if I'm making the right choice......
