:agree: i think the point is not that the BIZ can control it but they can be made aware of how their customers feel, thereby ALSO complaining to prop mgmnt along with residents, which would hopefully lead to a faster response...

b & m'ing here can get the word out to others, but no solution will come of it if the RIGHT people aren't told of the problem. include a link to this thread in your email!

    Related matter....

Why on earth do some feel the need to avoid returning carts to the corral?

Why is it acceptable to either leave the cart in the unoccupied space next to their car, or "park" the front wheels of the cart up on the curb?

That is something that bugs me also. I hate when people leave the cart in the middle of a parking space where it

    1. Blocks another person from parking (thanks so much!)
    2. Is pushed by the wind and rolls into some innocent person's car (Thanks a lot!)

I think that left to their own devices and without being accountable for the consequences of their actions; that there are a large number of people who truly don't care about their fellow humans. :(

And, another thing that bugs me is when the customer actually uses the corral but they barely push the cart into it so is ready to roll out into the lot to hit a car.

It's just laziness as with everything else - dog poop, garbage cans, mailers, yadda, yadda, yadda...

    this time at Safeway center...

A mom with 2 kids in a dark green minivan was leaving Safeway, and cut me off, as I had just left Wendy's (heading to the stop sign at the gas station)....

She proceeds through the stop sign and also cut off someone coming from the Steakhouse side of the intersection. The other driver blew the horn, and the mom blew the horn back and yelled some profanity (obviously, the other driver was at fault for obeying the rules).

Then, at the Claiborne / Broadlands Blvd light (she was turning left onto Claiborne), she runs the red light and nearly hits a car coming from the Clydes side of the intersection.

Of course, this driver must have also been at fault, and his faults got him the one-finger salute from the inconsiderate mom in the minivan, who yet again blew the horn and floored herself through the intersection at a high rate of speed.

I am not sure she returned her shopping cart to the corral, but I have my doubts...

I wonder if this is the same mini van that drove off in the HT parking lot after she backed into my BMW a few months ago. I tried to follow her for a few miles, but she took off like a bat out of hell after she made eye contact with me in the parking lot.

I did take a pic of her car & license plate # with my camera-phone and called the cops to report a hit & run.

What kind of example is this mother setting, much less the safety concerns of violating posted speed limits.

I saw this same van run the 4 way stop at Claiborne over by Mill run. This is why we need a tunnel for our kids to walk to the pool. This is out of control and maybe on meds and should not be driving.

Gotta love the mini vans I tell ya. 2 days ago I was driving West on Broadlands BLVD. Just crossed Ashburn Rd. heading toward Safeway as I was going to turn left at Demott. I always set my speedometer at 38 (out of habit) I noticed as I was coming up to St. Teresa intersection a mini van jumping lane from lane to speed up. Well I was in the left lane as people were coming out of the chuch parking lot, so the mini van was stuck behind me (riding my six the whole way) once I merged to the left turn lane, mini van blast by with a guy glaring at me with his tongue sticking out.... real mature I tell ya....

Funny you mentioned calling the Sherrif's office. I actually reported a Sherrifs Officer who was parked in front of the Starbucks. This is even more dangerous since it is on the corner. I gave the Sherrif's office the officers license plate number. There were plenty of spaces availabe just a few feet away.

Why would you do that? Are you that petty or self centered that you think you know whats best? Those officers are out 8-10 hours a day working for us and you have to do crap like that. You are truly a special person.

The point remains - they are not above the laws they are enforcing.

People get really, really upset when the Sheriffs office makes them move from the fire lanes in front of the dry cleaners/ starbucks/ ups store/ karate place/ takeout joint/ etc. There have been at least two arrests that I can think of in this area over the years for disorderly conduct from people that have gotten out of hand when asked to move. One guy also assaulted the officer he got so upset (that's a felony, baby).

    Chsalas,
If people are too lazy to park their cars in spaces and walk into Starbucks then maybe they should just go to the drive through at McDonalds. A police officer is no different. He was parked illegally and it was very dangerous. In fact a car coming into the parking lot had to yield to me so I could get around the officer's car. He was parked right in front of the doors of Starbucks. Next time you are by there try to picture a car sitting there and 2 other cars trying to get around it. It was a dangerous Cluster F. If he couldn't use one of the dozens of empty spaces then he could have parked along the curb between Starbucks and Walgreens. It would have been much safer although still illegal.

I'm not special at all, I just try to be safe with my children and others. Parking like this is very dangerous. By the way, I usually work about 10 hours a day and I can find time to park my car and walk the extra 10 feet. It is exhausting by I manage to get by.

Abuse of power is not a benefit of public service. They are paid for their services like all of us, homemakers the unfortunate exception. If you think they would 'work for us' if they were not being paid you are sadly mistaken. They chose their line of work just like I chose the exciting field of artistic accounting. I don't get to freely take from the petty cash.

Individual people demand respect. Not a profession.

I don't have a strong opinion either way, but maybe there is a regulation that the deputies need to park them in a way that the vehicle is close by if they need to get to them ASAP? I dunno, just a guess.
