My wife and I are expecting our first baby in early October. We are looking for daycare services M-F 8:30-5:30 starting in January 2010. If anyone has any recommendations for a daycare provider either in home or centers we would greatly appreciate it.

    Thanks,
    -Rob

You can do a search - there have been numerous threads about daycare recommendations for the last several years. That being said - I HIGHLY recommend Kindercare in Ashburn Farm (across from the Giant on Railstop Terr)

My son has been there since he was 14 weeks old (he is 16 months now). I have been extremely happy with the center and staff. If you have specific questions you can send me a PM.

I can't speak of the infant room teachers because my kids are older now, but we are extremely happy with the KinderCare in Broadlands (on Waxpool - near the Stone House) and the kids love it there too!

Compare the costs of a daycare center like Kindercare with the costs of a person who has an in-home daycare service. I believe that the costs for infants is higher than for older babies and children but I'm not sure. Either way, if you get a really good place that works well for you and your baby that's the important thing. Look for a place that takes a personal interest in your child so you don't feel like it's a different part time, minimum wage worker every day who really has no interest in whether or not your baby is content and happy.

We discovered that it was actually a better deal financially for me (the mom) to stay home with our child. While I had a decent job, I wasn't making enough money to make it worthwhile to pay for daycare. It's crazy but basically my working would have essentially only paid for the daycare, which kind of defeats the purpose. So while we never thought my staying home was an option with daycare prices what they are it surprised us when we did the math.

    Here's a thread
from this board with a fair amount of info for you. There are others if you enter the search term "daycare." Good luck!
