If you are interested in seeing a Trader Joe's fill the vacant store where Shopper's was, please email your request using this link.

The form only takes two or three minutes and it would be nice to have the option, especially if you like to buy "healthy" or organic food.

I would love a Trader Joe's there. I do believe that the space is too large.

It's far larger than any Trader Joe's I've been to. It's a great size for a Whole Foods though.

Trader Joe's would be great!!! Whole Foods is way overpriced. I'll definitely fill out the location request today.

I already did fill out the request - months ago. I would love a Trader Joe's closer than Reston. Whole Foods - NO - too expensive!!!!

a TJ that big would FAIL here. oh there would be a crowd for the first months, and the die hard healthy eaters and people with food allergies and TJ fans would go, but the masses will end up back where they always shop, be it on price, fave products elsewhere, habit...

a normal sized one would do quite well though!

So we're all saying it looks likely that another vanilla supermarket will fill that slot then? Why don't the property manager's get creative and offer to split it into units.

BTW, in a place that size at least TJs might be able to find a home for its boxes and boxes of cheap wine. And we might all even get a parking space.

ahhhahahahahahahaaaaaaa! :pofl: i'm sorry- i've gotten way too cynical about the kinds of businesses that will come here and actually survive...

I would LOVE to see what you suggested happen. i just hope whatever does go there is NOT another standard grocery, which we do NOT need at all, and it's something people will support long term, and it's not a typical chain that offers the same thing we can get in a million places...

I think it's been said before but a Micro Center would be great to have nearby. We certainly seem to have enough techies around here to support it. Plus what's the competition nearby?

Actually, TJ's is not a very good place for people with food allergies...at least nuts- since pretty much everything there is processed in a plant with nuts. Frustrating.

It's not much better for egg allergy either (we deal with egg, peanut, and tree nut). However, we can find some safe items (cinnamon raisin mini bagels, organic lollipops, yogurt, meat, produce).

Personally I like the TJ's idea, but a PetCo would not go amiss either. I hate hate hate and detest the traffic into the Wegman's shopping center.

if they built a Petco so close to another one and only 10 miles from 2 OTHER Petsamrts- I might go insane.

have you tried Doggone Natural? (in the Ashburn Village center now- no longer on Ashburn rd)

or Petco during off peak hours? I take my JRT to get his nails cut at Petco, midday on Sundays- no problems getting in or out- never even had to wait for the groomer...

Have you tried Doggone Natural's prices? Petco isn't cheap but Doggone prices are doggone high.

I switched from Petco to Doggone to Whole Pet Food located at Junction Plaza next to the Giant. Whole pet has the best selection and prices for the "all natural" and "organic" pet food.

Doggone Natural continually tried to steer me to buy food I was not interested in and the prices are outrageous!

Also, Petfooddirect.com is an on-line pet food supplier with competitive pricing particularly when they send you 20-40% off coupons. That alone pays for the shipping and they are stocking a larger variety of organic brands to choose from.

Why pay more for the same product when you can get it cheaper elsewhere?

Oh, and in regards to the old "Shoppers" space...I vote for a BOWLING ALLEY with all the bells and whistles!

A bowling alley would be nice. Give the kids something else to do in the area as well as the adults.

Fabulous idea! Although the investment to turn this space into a bowling alley is probably not worth it.

There are already 3 within 15-20 minutes and they are struggling as it is.
