Okay, a bit sensationalized but almost happened this AM.

Driving down Claiborne towards Greenway, a Black Ford Exlorer JHC-1445 doing 55mph easily and weaving between lanes. This "individual" (not what I called him at the time)currently in the right lane decides he wants to pass a slower moving car about a hundred feet from the Greenway exit, just to get back over to use the exit.

Well, the reason the car ahead of him was moving slower was that an elderly gentleman coming from the mall was crossing the road. As the "I-am-in-hurry-get-out-of-my-way-driver" bolts into the left lane to pass, he has to slam on his brakes to avoid hitting the man (probably with brown stained underwear at this point) crossing the street.

COME ON PEOPLE, SLOW DOWN IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD! SAVE THE OVER-AGGRESSIVE DRIVING FOR THE GREENWAY AND OTHER ROADS THAT CAN HANDLE IT.

I am not a cop nor do I pretned to be one but I am going to speak out in this forum from now on when I see people driving in our community in an OBVIOUSLY reckless manner!

    Good idea, T8!

I have wanted to start a thread "calling out" bad drivers in Broadlands for quite some time. I know I would be embarrassed if I saw my license plate # on these forums where my neighbors would recognize it. Hopefully these drivers will be embarrassed, too. Maybe a little peer pressure will cause people to slow down and drive a bit more carefully.

You might want to think about changing the name of the thread to something like "Report Bad Drivers in Broadlands."

I was coming out of the broadlands shopping center yesterday (well, approaching the exit) and there was some moron in an SUV parked right at the start of the single incoming lane from Broadlands Blvd. having a leisurely chatwith another moron standing outside the car leaning in the passenger window, thus blocking the primary entrance to the shopping center. As I got closer to the exit, there was a string of about 3 cars turning in that swerved around this idiot into my lane almost hitting me. Good times!

These stories disturb me. I am not surprised. My 16 + 1/2 year old daughter just got her drivers license. She is a safe careful driver. She has had plenty of practice and passed her test yesterday with flying colors. She loves driving and she is alert and defensive. She has encountered many of those situations, plenty of those reckless drivers. Everyone drives over the speed limit and hardly ever follows the rules or laws. I can't stand the reckless driving and lack of common courtesy in this area.
If any maniac hurts her.... well, lets just say, it won't be pretty

I sent an e-mail with my account of the aggressive/reckless driving to the Sheriff's Office.

We also need crosswalks. It's really hard crossing at these intersections sometimes.

Crosswalk is good idea. I surprise at number people who drive Safeway. Walk good for body, make you not fat. If crosswalk at intersection, maybe more walking people.

I so sad to hear old man story. No reason to rush so much.

I really like your posts Dang! I agree. I try to walk there as much as possible but it's not easy without sidewalks and crosswalks!

I am very glad the forum kept the original posts by Chris et al. They provide a great "writing style" for comparison to others that may post here. It also provides a reminder that folks may post several times under different names. Just a comment, not an observation.

No one ever did find out the real identity of the imposter, right? Maybe Chris et al was not a real person, but someone who was being penned by someone still amongst us. Hummmm.

Kinda reminds me of Hank Hill's neighbor Khan from King Of The Hill. :) He's got more common sense than the other residents of his community.

What doesnt help the problem is when the parents buy their teen a $30k nissan 350Z, or some other sports car. What do they think the teen is "really" going to do driving this car around? Go 25mph through the neighborhood.....;), OK.
What about this pre-teens or very young kids on their electric/gas scooters flying down the sidewalk at 20mph when your with your wife and baby in the stroller walking on the sidewalk......now that's safe! I just need to take out a new insurance policy for dismemberment because thats what will happen to me with those kids going that fast on the sidewalk......Geeesshhhhh! Even normal bicycles on the sidewalk flying by us is dangerous. Do parents not teach their kids the "rules of the road" when people are walking on the sidewalk? Im almost getting hit by these kids going at these speeds. They need to be taught by their parents, so you parents out there w/kids this age need to put the smack down on this type of dangerous stuff.....someone's going to get hurt.

Take a broomstick with you and the next time you see someone getting ready to fly by you on a bike, jam the broomstick in the spokes as they pass. :)

    I'm kidding, of course...

Thank You for posting. You're english is fine and at least you have put effort into learning it for which I understand that English is one of the most difficult langauages to learn for a non-native English speaker. I've worked projects in Korean, Chinese, Arabic, Farsi, and Russian and the one thing I got from it was that it wasn't easy to pick up unless you worked at it.
