As soon as the stands open you can count on kids lighting them every night until sometime in Sept.

On a serious note, Ashburn Village always has a big show. Not sure of other places.

I am interested to know also. We are skipping the 'backyard show' this year and taking the kids out (hopefuly somewhere local) to see a big display.

Yep, I wish everyone would skip the "backyard" show and attend the community sponsored events!

Dulles Town Center is NOT having fireworks this year. Apparently the carnival is taking place during the same time and they won't be able to clean up in time for the fireworks that night (at least that's what customer service told me).

We have done the Ashburn Village show for the past 8-9 years. It is great! We usually go to DQ first and then stake out a good spot on the grass across from the lake near Dominion Trail Elem. The show usually starts around 9. Get there early to find a "proper" parking spot.

I am pretty sure Ida Lee has a show as well. I bet the local papers will have a schedule out soon.

If the Village has one you really need to get there around 6:30-7pm to get a great veiwing spot. Leaving, however, takes FOREVER!

Personally, we just stay on our back deck or front stoop and watch all the illegal ones going off around us...

A hint on the leesburg fireworks, take the rt 7 bypass west to come into leesburg from that side -- much less traffic and therefore much less time getting to and from the fireworks.

I see South Riding is tonight. Anyone have any idea where a good spot to go to see them might be? We haven't been to those before.

Where is the best place to park for the Ida Lee show?

Where do the fireworks from the Village go off from? If you park and sit at Dominion Trail Elementary, do you look East over the lake to see the show?

    Thanks....

The Village shoots off the fireworks from the island of the lake near Cheltonham Circle, near Farmwell/Ashburn Farm/Waxpool. I don't know for sure but you probably could see them from the school.

10:30am - Parade from Fincastle Field to the Pavilion
11am-4pm - Party at the Pavilion with inflatables, dunk tank, games, DJ, concessions etc. Party is free to residents and $5 for guests
8pm - A band will begin to play about an hour before the fireworks and a half an hour afterward. Approximate time for fireworks is 9pm
