Early this week, one of my neighbors called the police to report an unknown male hiding in her woods in broad daylight (around 1:30pm) who was watching her nanny play with her two little kids in the yard. When he realized he was spotted, he left through the woods.

The incident occured on Glebe View Drive and the man disappeared into the woods going towards Belmont Ridge Rd.

Just wanted to let everyone know so they can keep a closer eye on their little ones and make sure your garage doors are down and doors/windows are locked.

That's disturbing, if there are any other sightings, please keep this forum updated and I'll shoot the word out to my folks down the hill.

very scary. we live near the woods, and now and then my dog will bark at the trees and growl low in his throat. his rabbit/squirrel growl is very different. that's ok- our buddies smith and wesson will back up the dog on any attempted invasions. :sniper:

Do you have a cross street on Glebe View? North or South of Truro Parish?

If its North, he might be part of the group working on the new Broadlands Blvd intersection with Belmont Ridge.
There's been a lot of activity there lately. Keep an eye on that group and see if you notice the same guy there.

North of Truro Parish, near the top of Vestals Gap.

Yup, I bet he's a worker on the construction site for the Belmont Ridge intersection.

Kind of creepy, but hopefully he was just taking a smoke break from the site or something.

Though, Vestals is really pushing the likely outer limit of the construction zone.
Seems a bit too far away.

Gross as it sounds, I know some of the workers take "bathroom breaks" in the woods as well.

This guy was way too far away from any construction to be taking a bathroom break...

OP, do you have a description of this person? That would be helpful. Thanks.

Another person was wandering around back in the woods again this past week behind my house and my neighbor's house. This time a tall, thin male wearing a hat, suit coat, and long pants. Police were called, but the man was gone by the time they got here. Strange.

The first incident involved a black male. This time it appeared to be a white male. My neighbor got a brief look at his face as he was walking through both of our backyards. He had a hat on, so it was hard to tell. My neighbor said it looked like he stepped out of the 1940s the way he was dressed. A little odd to be hiking around in the woods dressed in a suit coat. We are all keeping our eyes peeled.

I am going to call the non-emergency number today and see what I can find out. A third neighbor said her daughter was outside sunning and saw a man with a hooded sweatshirt with a towel or blanket draped over his head by their fence a few weeks ago (very dense wooded area). So, with 3 incidences, I think we need to let all the neighbors know what is going on. Anyone have an idea as to how we do that?

call 703-777-1021 and explain it just as you did here. i've always had a rapid response- they send a cruiser around, and step up patrols in problem areas. be as specific as possible! sounds like there are either multiple guys in one group or several unrelated incidents that may or may not be something to be alarmed by.

i remember during the dc sniper attacks EVERY white panel van looked suspicious for awhile because they planted that seed. so while it's FANTASTIC that we are all vigilant and always report out of the ordinary occurences, remember there are lots of out of town visitors around here right now. a towel on the head is common for a runner/athelete to do to cool off- though a hoodie or suit and hat in the middle of summer DOES sound odd...

    BE SAFE.

They were doing a lot of work this week on Belmont at the interchange with Glebe View. There was a whole bunch of guys in suits out there yesterday. I am not sure how far it is through the wood from the construction site to the back of the homes on Glebe View. It could be developers looking a buying the land for development.

From personal experience- a husband in that industry- it could be construction folks checking out for clearing, land development, etc if they are in suits. Often times folks from the office are out looking at the land before it is developed or bid on to be developed. The estimators have to get a personal view-not just plans- and often others in the land development office go out and walk the job before bidding or starting work. Now- people in sweatshirts w/ towels over them or the like wouldn't fit this group:) I know there is a lot of changes going on over behind that area on Belmont Ridge so men in suits, khakis, might be part of the work.

Did these guys in suits have dark sunglasses, ear bud in one ear, and a slight bulge just behind the right hip?

If so they are from the government and are here to help you.

But I agree, let the police know about this. They are in the position to properly investigate this.

Hope it is nothing, but it is good to be careful..... careful, not paranoid.
