Has anyone used Abbey Carpet and Floors in Sterling in front of Costco? I visited both Abbey Carpet and CMI Designs today and I was wondering if anyone had experience using Abbey Carpet recently?

I know many people have good things to say about CMI Designs.

Yes we used them when we had our family room redone about 2 years ago. We were not even considering them as we assumed that they would be more expensive. We were surprised at the wide range of prices they have.

We found some very nice carpet at a pretty reasonable price (even the sales lady was surprised). Their padding selection was also wide and good. We had no problems with the installation either.

We would go back to that Abby Carpet store the next time we are replacing carpet.

Abbey is good but crews can be iffy since often don't speak english well and are in a hurry. Shop around. Everyone is deparate for business anyway, but they have excellent selection at the Sterling location.

Did you check out the Flooring store - name escapes me right now - in the Ashburn Commons shopping center? Corner of Ash Village and Rt 7?

I used him for hardwood flooring and probably saved close to $900 vs Abbey.

We recently used Carpet One in Ashburn Village...much better customer service and better prices than Abbey Carpet.

Weird, we tried Carpet One and found their prices to be a bit high. I guess we all have different experiences :)

Beahmer, thanks for suggesting the carpet store in Ashbrook Commons, I visited them today. Their prices seemed to be about the same as Abbey and some choices were a bit lower in price. Now, I will try Carpet One in the Village. Thanks everyone!

We actually bought a runner for our stairs...for the exact same carpet, pad and installation - Abbey was $1800 and Carpet One was $1100!

It sure pays to shop around. :)

The hard part is that with all the sales, there is not one place that will always have the lowest prices. Shopping around may not be fun but it can pay off with significant savings.

One other suggestion - if they are all close - tell them your "getting it cheaper elsewhere" - pick a number and see if they bite!
