    We are looking to board our dog for a week in August. We have used Stream Valley in the past but have not been happy. Can anyone recommend a place for our little guy?

    I recommend VIP Boarding Kennel in Lovettsville.

    I have 2 border collies and this is one of the few kennels I've used I felt gave my dogs the exercise and outside time they need. I never worry about my dogs when boarded with VIP. They will also pick up and drop off your dog at your house. I've also found their pricing very reasonable. I can't recommend them enough.

    I strongly recommend Ivandale Farms (http://www.ivandalefarms.com/). I discovered them while looking for something different than the average kennel. I was tired of my dog picking up worms and other nasty things from kennels, and couldn't have been more pleased to find Ivandale. It really is like Club Med for dogs -- my dog didn't want to leave! Their prices are a little higher, but when you consider all of the extras that you get for free, it's really worth it. Not only do the dogs go on nature walks (complete with pond swims!), they get to spend one-on-one time with the owners throughout the day, get a bath before they're sent home, get updates (with pictures) throughout their stay, and get a report card when they check out. The owner just really loves dogs and does this because of that and not for profit like most kennels.

    I cannot rave enough about Ivandale!

    VIP took good care of my dog and worked with him to give him playtime with other dogs. They seem to really understand and care about dogs there. I'll second that recommendation. Didn't know they do pick-ups - it is a long drive so that would be worth the $$!

    I highly recommend Julie at Ivandale Pet Farm. She took great care of my very old chocolate lab. She kept me informed with emails and pics while I was away for a week on vacation which gave me peace of mind.

    Our dog prefers to stay in his own home, less traumatic for him and I like having someone come to our house, take in the mail, etc.

    We use Petsmart Pet hotel in Reston, they are clean & out of all the kennels we have tried "the Beast" does not mind this one. THe staff is really nice and if you get them a playdate schedule on the day you are coming home it extends the time you can pick up your pet.

    I highly recommend Ivandale Farms in Hamiton. The owner, Julie, is so wonderful with the dogs & my boy Max, who hates to ever leave my side, even loves going there. The dogs are not crated (unless you want), are given loads of attention, and get to run free & play most of day. She also gives them a bath before you pick up. Here's the link: http://www.ivandalefarms.com/kennel-main.htm

    if i ever decide to board Beener instead of having woofies care for him in my absence, I would choose Ivandale based on many recent recommendations!

    Our girls, ages 11 and 8, have spent their summer taking care of people's pets while they are on vacation. It is easiest for us if the location is close to our house on Highview, meaning if the girls can walk there it is much easier for me the mom, but we have watched one dog off of Demott and one off of Village Drive. They charge $20 per day for a dog, and $50 a week for cats.

    If you haven't found boarding yet, our dog has been going to Country Club Kennels since he a young pup and at the age of 12 he still gets excited when we pull up in their drive. They have climate controlled kennels and they play with the dogs most of the day on a 45 acre farm/ranch. You can even pay for pond time where they get to go in the pond and swim or nature walks. They will also bath your dog before pickup for a small fee. It is out in Catlett, but it is well worth the drive out there. Carla the owner is the sweetest lady and all of her staff are animal lovers. You can also call them during your vacation and check on your dog.

    $35/day and they also have these extra activities;

    Additional Activities and Rates:
    Nature Walks: $15 per trip
    Pond Trips: $15 per trip
    Massage: $20 per 20 minute session
