Ashburn Service and Tire Center (elitecarcarecenter.com) located in Ashburn Village failed my car inspection for rear break shoes and drums. Last year, Ashburn Goodyear (vatireandauto.com) failed me for the same thing and I had them replace it. Someone was lying to me, either Goodyear did not replace my brakes last year or these guys are trying to rip me off.

I took my car to Absolut over in Sterling. They told me the brakes look relatively new and there is nothing wrong with them. I will be filing a complaint to the State Police and the Attorney General Office. I try to support the local mechanics but I have yet to find an honest one. Absolut can now add a loyal customer to their list.

I always thought inspection process was little questionable....

    1) go to tire place .. you fail due to tire being worn
    2) go to brake place ... your brake pad is worn down
    3) go to gas station ... your headlight is not aligned ( small nickel and dime issues )
    4) go to dealer ... you need everything and it is not safe to drive your car unless
you mix it right away ..and btw you failed !!

As mentioned above ... find a good independent place .....

I've never had an issue with Ashburn Service & Tire Center (in Ashburn Village). As a matter of fact, they're the only auto center in Ashburn I do trust.

I'll second the recommendation for Absolut-extremely good and honest.

I met with the State Trooper today and there is a small chip on the passenger rear brake shoe. The trooper told me the car should fail inspection for that. As for the brake drum, it just on the border of passable so that was a judgment call. Absolut never gave me the pink slip for the inspection therefore the trooper can't tell which rear brakes they looked at. He thinks Absolut might have only looked at the driver side rear brake and therefore pass the inspection.

When I filed the complaint it was based what the owner at Absolut told me. He suggested I file a complaint even though I was planning to do so anyway depending on if they pass my inspection. When I went to pick up the car, I spoke with the mechanic and he told me there was a small chip on the brake shoe but nothing that would be a safety concern. The mechanic felt it was a judgment call but according to the trooper they should have failed the inspection.

I'm glad I exercised my consumer rights and found out the truth. My car is currently at Goodyear awaiting for them to determine if they will honor their brake warranty.

Tech Head, given what I know now I agreed with you the guys at Ashburn Service and Tire Center are honest.

The guys at Ashburn Service & Tire Center have actually talked me into waiting to perform services which they could have easily taken my money for at the time.

They even recommended purchasing a particular set of tires on the Internet cheaper than what they sell them for and having their guys only mount and balance. I don't take my car anywhere else.
