That's a good question, I noticed mine was higher, although I didn't water the yard at all this summer.

In the later summer months LW charges "winter rates" and I think it is noted on their invoice, its crazy but what can you do.

On my bill, there is no winter rate charges. I think you are confusing this with your winter baseline usage--which is used to determine peak usage #s. If your bill seems excessive, there are a few quick things to check...

    1. how does the usage compare to your "Winter Quarter Usage"?
    2. How does the sewer usage compare to the water usage?

If your sewer usage is close to your water usage, then it's probably not lawn/washing the car type usage. If you have a substantially high sewer usage as well compared to previous quarters - maybe you have a leak or running toilet?

Loudoun Water sets your baseline usage for Spring, Summer and Fall based on what you use in the winter months(Dec-Mar). Then they allow for 6,000 more gallons above this number before they start charging you peak usage rates.

th3 - thanks for the clairfication, that's what the gal @ LW told me last week when I got the bill. Your response prompted me to follow up with LW about our actual usage.

We replaced four leaking toilets about 8 weeks ago. Once I faxed the invoice of the repairs to LW, they gave us a credit for a good portion of usage. Thanks.

I thought the Sewer Usage/Bill was based on your water usage - because they don't have a way to measure what's going down the drains.
