[The title should say 9/16 - Wednesday]

Attention parents of 1st through 5th grade boys - come to Join Scouting Night to see what Cub Scouts has to offer for your son. Lots of fun activities with friends, opportunities to learn and grow as citizens and leaders, and much more! Cub Scouts is "Fun With a Purpose." Join Scouting Night for Pack 1483 will be held at Hillside this Wednesday, September 16 from 7 to about 8:30pm. Flyers should be coming home in backpacks today.

Pack 1483 meets at Hillside and has a website that tells about some of the activities we're involved in throughout the year: www.pack1483.com. (There are other packs in the area too - 1484 is the one that meets at Mill Run.) If you have any questions feel free to post them here or email the contact link at pack1483.com.

Join Scouting Night will provide information about the program and will have forms and collect registration fees, so bring your checkbook - for Sept 09 through Dec 10 the fee is $61, which includes part to support the pack, part to support the national organization, which provides materials and training to all Cub Scout leaders, and also includes a subscription to Boys Life magazine. There will be an activity for the prospective scouts during the meeting.

The national organization has a website that provides info about scouting, www.joincubscouting.org. You can see the Tiger program that the first-grade scouts work through at this link: http://www.usscouts.org/usscouts/advance/cubscout/tiger.asp. The Cub Scout wikipedia also gives some good basic info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cub_scout.

If you have a son who is interested or might be interested in joining Cub Scouts, come on to Hillside on Wednesday!

So the meeting isn't just for the parents... the prospective scout should come too?

Scouts are optional. The scouts who come will get to meet some of the den leaders and older scouts, and they'll play games in the next room while the parents attend the informational meeting.

Hi, Audrey. We signed my son up for cubsouts at this meeting and were expecting an e-mail from his new leader (wolf - she wasn't there that night...Hopper, I think). We've heard nothing yet.

Would you mind e-mailing me at serenawelsh@earthlink.net so tha we can get him involved ASAP?

    thanks,
    Serena
