So I know this is EXTREMELY premature, but I just found out my landlord wants to sell his townhouse and would like to cut my lease short.

So if you know of anyone who is looking to rent their house/townhouse or will need a new tenant around the time of June 20 - July 1, please pass the word.

Thanks!! I don't like to procrastinate.

You do know that your landlord cannot cut your lease short just because he wants to sell it.

I was about to say that. I used to and still am a landlord. Depends on how the lease is written, I believe you have the upper hand. Here's my recommendation. If you want to ride out your lease, just let them know. They can't force you out because you both signed the lease. Now if you're open minded, I would suggest you ask them to pay for your movers and/or 1 month rent for the inconvenience. I'm in the same situation. I have a property I like to sell, but I'm not going to kick out my tenant and he's on a month to month.

No, it's all good. My lease is scheduled to end Aug 31 and we agreed to June 30 so that I could move over the summer vs moving right before the start of the next school year. This works out well for me. Would have worked better if he had let me stay another 2 years, but oh well.
