My kids wanted to start BOOing the neighborhood. Their cousins have been doing this is their own neighborhood for years. It’s fun for kids, teens, and adults. You just make up a clear package of candy, stickers, small gifts or whatever you’d like and attach a BOO instruction sheet, then ring a neighbor or two’s doorbell at night and leave the package for them, then you put the sign in your door that you’ve been BOOed and see how many homes can be BOOed before Halloween. Better instructions are here: http://www.beenbooed.com but I just wanted to post this and let people know it’s a fun thing and not just bored teens if you happen to get a doorbell ring at night. Hope it catches on and can be an annual thing. :)

I know this has been going on in different parts of the neighborhood for years

But thanks for posting the info. It would be great fun if a lot of homes started participating

We do it alot and the kids LOVE it! Surprised that many people aren't familiar with this tradition ( I wasn't prior to moving to Ashburn). Thanks!

As a teacher in Texas, we used to Boo each other's classrooms, but until we moved to Ashburn 10 years ago, I had never experienced Booing in the neighborhood. It is fun, and the kids do love it!

Our neighborhood leaves a goodie bag with Halloween items in it. Then you in turn do the same for two other neighbors. You hang up the ghost to show that you've already been booed so you don't get hit twice.

My kids look forward to it every year.

This happened to our home a couple of weeks ago and I really liked this tradition. We have in turn, booed a couple of homes and pretty much see this on my entire st. now.

Great thing to do for Halloween!

I had never seen this before we moved to Brambleton ourselves. The kids do love it, and i am suprised to see how many of the adults on our side of the neighborhood really got into and put some cool things in the goodie bags. Keep up this great little tradition:)

we did 6 houses today, my 3 1/2 yr old couldn't just pick 2, but it was so fun to see her get into it, run up and drop it off and then run back to her getaway car waiting...what a great way to show it is "better to give" (although she is waiting to be boo-ed back) and "bring a smile to someone" who isn't expecting a sweet treat - great lessons taught today in a fun way, thanks for the reminder of this fun game, just one more reason we love ashburn!
