Looking for a personal trainer to work with me in the mornings at Lifetime. The Lifetime trainers are quite expensive, anyone have a more reasonable option?

Fore go the gym membership and trainer and try the P90X DVD program. It will kick you butt and has a variety of programs to choose from. It also comes with a plan including meals.

If you decide to use one of the Lifetime Fitness trainers, Kellie C. is one I've worked with and highly recommend her. She's very knowledgeable and shares all that with you. She's not too tough on you either. Another option at Lifetime is the Team Fitness training. I believe it averages out to about $14 for each hour session. I really liked that, and sometimes the groups are small enough and you get more personal attention for your money. They have been offering the first week of each 14 week session as a free trial, so you can try that out. There's probably a new one starting in January.

A particular beef I have with trainers is this: when you have definte things you CANNOT do, based on surgeries, results, etc. the doctor has stated what you CAN do and what you cannot do in order to keep say, your knee from needing a total replacement before 10 years...

You tell them what issues you have and what you can and cannot do. Then they say ok, and proceed to put you through a workout that shows no consideration for the facts you just stated. Kind of like they think your telling them what YOU personally won't do- rather than what your limitations really are. Hello, don't put me on the leg press! Don't put me on the squat machine. UGH!

DJ- Not to hijack the thread, but have to agree. I did three rounds and lost 57 lbs so far. Just started Insanity and thats a blast. Became a coach to take advantage of all the discounts. I gave up the gym memberships because I could do everything there at home (although I do miss the pool for laps in the winter).
