    Redon1 and others -

Are you happy with the new Phoenix Tae Kwon Do School?

We want to sign our son up for classes. We want to know how things are going since it has been a few months since this new school opened.

    Thanks!

ABSOLUTELY! The new place is huge, clean and excellent for both training, and kids doing homework and for fun camps. Their rates are very fair, and there's a high level of attention and focus on not just TKD, but character, responsibility and respect. It's been great for The Boy's health, and for goal setting and taking on challenges that don't get instant results, like getting another star on his black belt, which took months.

I am SO pleased that they are back and better than ever. you might say I believe Phoenix Passes with Flying Colors!

Phoenix is AWESOME!! Both my boys have returned and they are actually much happier now than they were when it was UST. Please keep in mind, they LOVED UST! They love the amount of space it provides them both for class and after school. They have learned not only how much the Masters meant to them, but how much the Masters care about everyone who walks through the door.

What about the place near Harris Teeter and Caring Hands Animal Center in B-lands?

What about the place near Safeway in B-lands?

I know some who like it, and some who absolutely hate the place by Safeway - so it is very hard to say. I have heard some dangerous practices of the one by Safeway but have never experienced them for my family. One of my sons went to the other Topkicks for a short while when UST shut and it is run as a business, very sterile compared to Phoenix. The studio we went to was very small with little room for classes compared to the spacious studio at Phoenix. All I can say, Phoenix is truly caring and a great new facility! Phoenix is part of the World TaeKwonDo Federation and follows the true curriculum and belts are earned.

If you are not sure, ask each for a trial of a week and try them all for yourself. If they are not willing to give you a free week then they aren't worth going to.

Okay... one more place... what about the one near Red Robin? I think I recall seeing something posted on here about that place. Any recent feedback?

    Thank you!

Topkick will let you try their classes for a whole MONTH for free! The instructors there are so dedicated and wonderful, and they are all named Kevin:)
We love Topkick- they are great!

I don't know if you have made a decision but the new Phoenix Tae Kwon do Place is awesome, it is huge compare to its old locations there is a computer room, video room and two studios for classes. The Masters are very caring and the kids who attend which are most of their old students who followed them are very happy with them! I know they give you a free trial. Good luck!

I assume your answer is yes - but is Phoenix worth getting stuck in 28/waxpool rush hour traffic (which would be the way I would get there from work), given there are several programs closer to Broadlands? Looking for a place for after school care next year (1st grade). Will sit in that traffic if the program is far superior to local ones - just want to make sure it truly is. I've started stopping into a few programs during the after school hours, but it's hard to get true feel when I'm only there for a short while. Thanks

Their number is 703-858-3998. They are at 44611 Guilford Drive, #160. If you remember where the Old Dominion Brewery used to be, it's off that same road, down further on the left.

I stopped in last week to speak w/ Master Park and he was really pleasant. He said they were doing Black Belt testing this week but to come do a trial the first week of March. What I truly appreciated was that he was not immediately eager to sign me up on a contract. He wanted me to bring the children by first (5 and 7 yr old) for a trial period to see if they get along with the instructors and their teaching style first.
