I was driving down Belmont Ridge this afternoon and saw the bulldozers plowing down the trees where Croson Road will be extended to Belmont Ridge.
I hope this means they are finally going to build the road!

have you seen any plans for that road/connection? do you know if it will include a sidewalk connecting to the one over by Evergreen mills and going to the highschool?

    TIA

Nice! I'm sure the residents on Ridgeway and Cochran's Lock will appreciate the decrease in cut-through traffic.

I'm still waiting for construction on the other side of Croson - all the roads around the new metro station and the connection of Westwind Dr in Loudoun Valley Estates through to 606. That will take a ton of cars off Waxpool, but I'm sure it will upset the Greenway owners.

For any other map-junkies out there, check out page 19 of this PDF:

Croson will end at Belmont Ridge. it doesn't go near Evergreen Mills. I don't know if there will be a sidewalk along Belmont Ridge to Connect Croson to Briar Woods.

I was hoping it would never connect; I don't want cut through traffic on Croson which is the back of my house.

Croson has been planned to be a four lane divided highway and a pretty major thoroughfare into Moorefield station. So, you're going to see a bit of traffic.

I dropped this letter off to everyone that lived in a home that backed to Croson in May 2008.
    "Hello Neighbor,

An interesting thing happened last week while I was running in the neighborhood. When I reached the end of Croson Ln. I stopped and was talking to the construction foremen of the building project going on in back of your home. He explained to me that Croson Ln is going to be expanded down to Belmont Ridge Rd and expanded to four lanes. He thought that this would start next year. I contacted Loudoun County and verified this information. I wanted to bring this to your attention because as a local real estate broker I like to keep my neighbors informed of things that may affect their property values. Of course there are positives and negative to living with a busy road behind your home. However if you are concerned about safety, noise and pollution you may want to investigate your options..."

    Still applies!

    Thanks,
    Steve Campot

I don't think there is much to be done about it. As I understand it where Croson meets old Ryan Rd there will be a town center built as part of the Metro stop expansion (slated for 2016). If there is a metro stop right there we will need the wider road. I was hoping they would wait for the connection to Belmont until then.

Frankly if the county is going to sink money into a road project connecting the parts of Loudoun Co Parkway together all the way to 50 would be far more useful. Some sort of cut over to 606 without taking the Greenway would be good too.

Generally, the county doesn't spend money on road projects. They wait for Developers to proffer them.
The Croson completion is being done by the Developer of the land that is north of Croson and west of Broadlands.
The county has lots of other great road plans, but no money to build them.

Nice little pat on the back, Cliff (j/k, I know you abstained from the vote).

Very true - so much to do, so little money (ie - NONE WHATSOEVER) to do it with.

I abstained because I had nothing to do with the development of the CTP. That input was provided by my predecessor. The first time I saw anything was when it was put up for the vote. I didn't feel it was appropriate for my to have a say when I came in at the 11th hour. I know the Commissioners put in long, long hours working on that plan.
