Again, Patriot seems to be really picky about picking up motor oil. 2 weeks in a row I have set it out with the other recycling on Thursday in a sealed container marked "Motor Oil" and still that jug sits there to greet me as I come home.:conf2:

I don't think Loudoun County accepts oil through the recycling system. I think you have to take it to the landfill or something else...

Advance Auto. You bring it in, pour the oil in a tank, log # of gallons on a sheet.

you can drop it off at the Loudoun Recycle center off of Evergreen Mills. It's not too bad of a drive and is open on Saturday.

They are supposed to take it based on what was printed in the monthly new letter. I left about 3 gallons out about 2 months ago and they took it then.

I agree, the newsletter did say they will take it.

I put a gallon out last year. It took 3 tries for them to take it. And that only came after the HOA had to remind them to pick it up.

Please call them first when you have "unusual" recycling. They are not equipped to take it on the truck, so a supervisor will come pick it up. 1-703-257-7100 or call the HOA office and we will call them to arrange pick up.

I'm pretty sure any automotive service shop/center will take your used oil!

I usually just take mine to the landfill recyclign center.

I believe that any service station that performs oil changes is required to accept used oil by law.

I have had this happen several times. I call the number on the side of the trash cans and the helpful secretary usually offers to send someone out to get it immediately. I just tell them to make sure they get it next time which they do. They pick it up I believe every other week.

They pickup oil, trans-fluid, gear oil, coolant, etc.

Not sure what causes the problem, but I suspect it's poor training of Patriot's men on the ground, or possibly they can't read English. Though I doubt the latter (because it looks like oil, coolant, etc. also).

Patriot picked up the oil today. I don't know what was different. This time I put the oil inside the recycle bin so they had to do something with it.
