Is anyone on Sprint Wireless? I'm thinking of switching over from At&t but want to make sure I can get 3G coverage here in Ashburn. I'll probably get the new HTC EVO 4G phone and hoping that 4G signal is availabe which I doubt, but want to make sure that at least 3G is available.

BTW, 4G is availabe in DC (I work near the white house).

We're in Southern Walk (up the hill from Mill Run) and my husband only has coverage if he sits on his bathroom sink or he huddles in the door jam to the front door. Coverage isn't the best for him! I'm on Verizon and don't have any problems anywhere.

I'm over by the Steakhouse, off Demott and I never have any problems here at home or on my way anywhere. I've been a Sprint customer for 10 years, AT&T for 2 years before that and while I have often considered going for an iPhone, the crappy AT&T service keeps me from switching.

We are in Southernwalk off Claiborne and the coverage for us is AWESOME (even in our basement)...we both have the HTC Google Hero and LOVE IT.

FWIW - you may want to check out the doubletwist product once you get a new phone. (it's a free app and it converges all your media).

If you do get the new HTC, please share your thoughts - we are thinking about upgrading our phones too.

As for the coverage in the DC area...hubby is downtown and has never dropped a call (since 12/09) and this includes elevators & metro, the only time I've had coverage issues is off Gum Springs/Watson Road/Lawyer's Rd/Hunter Mill/Georgetown Pike (near McLean)...hope that helps.

I know you're on Sprint and not Verizon, but just wanted to share that my employer picked up an HTC Droid Incredible for me last week and I have to say it's the most amazing Android-based phone out there today. It's BLINDINGLY FAST! I'm a die-hard iPhone user and still carry mine as my personal cell with my Incredible as my business one; I've been finding myself using the Android phone at least twice as much...

Thanks for all of the feedback. The new Sprint HTC Evo is going to be released on 6/4 so I'm pretty excited. My last two phones have been the Blackberry Bold 9700 and Iphone 3G and this new HTC EVO looks like it's going to blow away both.

Here's some pricing info that I've read about this phone:

Price: $199 with 2 yr contract

Data Plan: $10 more for the WIMAX service.

Hot Spot: $29.95/month. This allows up to 8 devices to connect through your phone to the internet. It's essentially a router. I use the Sprint Overdrive (myfi) at work and it works great. I was using the Verizon Broadband Card and was gettiing download speeds of around 700 kbs (in 3G) and when I switched to Sprint, I'm now getting around 3.5 mbs (in 4G). If you have just the Wifi version of the iPad, now you can connect through the EVO phone, even though there's no traditional wifi signal available.

Yeah, we love our HTC Hero (s) and the speed is flipping amazing, so when our contracts are up (in a few months) we'll upgrade to the NEW HTC - the screen is so much bigger and I've read some favorable reviews on their new product.

I heard Best buy is offering $100 instant rebate instead of Sprint's usual $100 mail-in-rebate when you pre-order today....

If you're having trouble with Sprint service, you can purchase the Airrave for $90 and pay about $5 a month and get in-home coverage. I got it and it is great.

My husband has a Sprint blackberry and has not had any issues with coverage at our house; top of Ridgeway in Southern Walk. I do have issues with my cell phone randomly dropping but was told it was due to our elevation and that we are so much higher than the cell tower.

FWIW, depending on what Sprint is doing with the 4G rollout, there was WiMAX equipment on the tower at the corner of LCP & Greenway ~ 2 years ago. I used to work for Sprint and did some user testing, but I'm not sure what equipment they kept, what went to Clearwire and how they are providing 4G service in our area.

So for those of you with Sprint coverage, how is it that my husband's coverage is so crappy and a neighbor is fine?

My husband and I just got our HTC Droid Incredibles yesterday and it is as it says, Incredible. I had a Blackberry so it's taking a little getting used to, but I can do much more. I would definitely recommend it.

Could be the phone itself. Some phones simply aren't as good as others when it comes to signal reception. How old is the phone?

It's about a month old. It's the Blackberry Tour. Regardless, we're probably going to switch him and au pair over to Verizon because where he works in Brambleton it's like a complete dead zone for Sprint. The BTC is a dead zone, but Verizon at least has the most coverage for the lack of coverage. Or, it could quite possibly be the black cloud of electronica hanging over my head and house that makes every electronic gadget not work when it's around me.

it is most likely the phone itself, I would notify sprint and ask them to swap his phone out for a new one. My husband had an older phone and his Sprint coverage was HORRIBLE, that all changed after we upgraded his phone to the HTC. We both get full bars even if we are in our basement and at the Brambleton Town Center.

Our Sprint 3G Broadband card works well in the house. Our Comcast internet was down today so we were using the broadband card without any issues.

I'm also hearing good things about Sprint's 4G service in the cities that offer it.

My 3GS iPhone on AT&T has ok service here at the house but I will say that I have been dropping more calls the past several months than the previous 3 years.

I have had Sprint PCS for the last 4 yrs I've lived in this area. No dropped calls, always a strong signal, with ONE exception: When I drive on Truro Parish West towards Belmont Ridge Road I always lose my signal and my calls are dropped at the top of the hill near Glebe View. Once on Belmont I'm fine again. Coverage is iffy at my daughter's preschool WTPP off Belmont Ridge.

I never drive up Ridgeway but this could be related if you are near the top of the hill on Ridgeway too.....?

    Hello Everyone.

I work for Sprint. After reading all these posts about people having no coverage in certain areas around Ashburn I am going to find out if there is anything that can be done with the service in those areas.

    More to come :)
