Hi - looking for a recommendation for a Lyme literate MD who follows International Lyme and Associated Disease Society (ILADS) guidelines, preferably one who sees children. Thanks!

    Hi,
You will have trouble finding a LLMD to see children in this area. There is a high demand, and they are not seeing new patients. There might be 1-2 in MD that you might be able to get in with, it's a matter of luck as to when you call if they happen to have their books open to new patients at the time.

Here is a good site for lyme info, and a good site to request referrals.

You'll find that LLMDs are not named, by full name, on these message boards. I'm not totally certain as to why, other than they are opening themselves up to insurance issues and lawsuits simply by being LLMDs in the first place. So out of respect for them, they are simply referred to as "Dr. X in MD", for example.

I will email you directly with the list that I have of LLMDs in VA, PA and MD. Most are not taking new patients. I have found one in MD that will see my 6 yr. old.

Dr. Z in Fairfax is the one I recommend to all my fellow Lymies. She has a doc in her practice Dr. M (she spoke at the meeting last fall at Mill Run) that is treating children with great success. I am unsure what the wait list is at this time. You should see her name in the Ilads list. ByrdieMcG will probably give you their names in her PM.
