We have owned a Sealy Springfree latex bed for over the past year and it has been phenomenal. We had an old Sealy innerspring and the back/knees started to hurt when I got out of bed. The Springfree (it looks like it has been replaced by Embody) has been fantastic with no more back/knee problems. We got the plush as this was the middle of the road for my wife and I. There is immediate support as soon as you lay down compared to the sinking feeling you get when lying on memory foam. We ended up getting ours from Belfort and were really happy with the customer service. One more thing is that it sleeps much cooler than a memory foam..something to think about these last 2 days. Seriously...why is it 110 on my patio? :) Good luck hunting!

    A few more things:
    1) The latex is ideal for people who suffer from allergies
    2) Latex does not grow mold and has proven that dust mites/bed bugs do not prefer latex (wife was sold on this)
    3) Won't absorb sweat like innerspring mattresses

I bought one from Belfort about 4 yrs ago and initially - I loved it. Now, I hate it. We bought the highest level one from Belfort that didn't have the pillow top. The latex will compress over time and you will get large divets or ruts where your body rests. It is "normal" to indent several inches - when it was delivered, there was even a warning that it will indent up to 3 inches over time. When my bed is made, you can literally see large intents on the two sides that we sleep. We've rotated it (can only rotate head to foot) and it doesn't make a difference. My spouse and I usually take turns "laying in the middle" to get rid of the ruts, but it is so noticeable when you sleep or stray from your rut. I would say we are small to average size people, so it’s not like we are giants smashing down the mattress!

One of the selling points from Belfort is that it sleeps cooler than a memory foam - my latex is extremely hot and retains all body heat, causing restless nights for us and our dog (yes, retains his heat too). As compared to a regular mattress, it is just awful. I'm sleeping in the guest room during this heat wave, although our AC is running all night long. My parents and father-in-law both have a memory foam and never have trouble with retaining body heat.

We were told that it does absorb sweat, spilled liquid, dog pee, etc and it was recommended that we purchase a special mattress pad to keep it clean. Because you can't clean the surface like a normal mattress if something spills, etc. Maybe we were suckers, but this made sense to me that it would absorb all of these things.

If I had to do it all again, I would either get a memory foam or a holly core - I can't remember who makes the holly core - it is a regular mattress but has a special core - not springs. I loved it when we tried it out, but decided to go with the "best" and get a latex.

Thanks for the replies. We are still deciding but are leaning towards a traditional inner spring mattress. Creatures of old habits I guess. We tried the tempur-pedic mattress and didn't like it, but the latex felt good and were really considering it. We have always had inner spring mattresses but was intrigued by the latex mattress. As most people have told us buying a mattress is really an individual decision. Thanks again for your feedback.
