Does anybody know if or when they plan to put a sidewalk in on the road by Harris Teeter to Demott? Very dangerous and only a matter of time before somebody gets hurt as all are forced to walk the street.

There will probably not be a sidewalk along there until George Mason builds something sometime in the future.

That's too bad...pretty dangerous and I doubt construction will begin for years on GM.

It sort of like the shopping center itself. VM didnt build sidewalks so people have to walk in the parking lot.
That is supposed to be fixed hopefully in the next year.

I don't see why a trail could not easily be constructed on the side opposite the GMU property. It's plenty wide enough.

Yes, one could easily be built. But it is Van Metre's property and they aren't interested in building it. It would cost money!

Who could we petition to get it built?

Stejyn - Van Metre owns all that - you can either contact their corp office or show up at a Board meeting at owners comments and voice your concerns there.

Van Metre owns the property on the opposite side of the GMU parcel? That's what I'm asking about.

It is not a simple answer but yes they own the majority of the west side of Demott, but there is a very small section that is HOA maintained (beyond the apartments, but before the shopping center)

I tried walking on the "public area" grass outside my townhouse this morning, and it's so tall...I kept losing my chihuahua! I prefer sidewalks :p

We like taking lots of walks, but we have a stroller that is hard to push through grass. And when the grass is wet... no one likes wet shoes and socks. I've frequently wondered why Demott and the shopping plaza had no sidewalks. Now I know. Oh well...
