Does anybody actually have any hard data on how much crime metro brings into an area? I'd suspect it's an overblown fear. Areas around metro stations probably experience an increase simply associated with the increased density and urbanization that comes along with having a station.

If anything, with the cameras in metro stations and the fact that it's only going to be one line from here to Vienna (and ten or so stations), escaping by car would probably be a lot easier since you could take off in absolutely any direction.

Whoever did this shouldn't be too hard to catch sooner or later. They can't be all that clever if they thought Subway (or any fast food place for that matter) would be a lucrative target.

Yeah, I was curious about the intelligence of robbing a Subway.
Did they make enough to cover the toll if they escaped on the Greenway?

Is the metro a certain thing? (I'm new to the area) Crime or not, the possibility of a metro here is exciting to me!

I think he just wanted a free sandwich and thought, hey, while I'm here, I'll get me some cash. ;-)

I'm surprised with all the cameras (intersections etc) around people do this. However cameras (at least as monitored by agencies) are sometimes less of an immediate deterrent as there can be too much to monitor.

I've reviewed my footage from that day of the house cameras and didn't see much of interest, aside from a FedEx and a landscaping truck. Ah, the burbs - nice and quiet.

I did call the non emergency number for the sheriff and they thought someone was in custody. I've got to admit, what little crime there is around here they do a great job resolving and are super responsive.

Ahh, a quote from Raising Arizona. I believe the rest of that goes "....and hurry up I'm in dutch with the little woman."

Does Loudoun County own its own helicopter or do we borrow one from Fairfax County all the time?

I hope the employees who were working at the time are doing well. Can't imagine going through something like that.

No, Loudoun doesn't have their own. Fairfax assists whenever needed.

I want to thank everyone for checking in on myself and my staff. It has been a crazy couple of days but everyone is doing fine. There is not a lot I can not discuss about the case, but I will say that the S.O.B will be caught. There are better pictures and videos of him that will be released to the news. Keep your eyes open, he has been in the shopping center on different occasions. Seen with a white female driving him around.

I know you cannot fully disclose certain information, but do you know if the woman who is driving him around has long brown hair? If so, I think I saw them this past Saturday, driving near the Harris Teeter in Broadlands. The only reason I noticed, is because the car was swerving in and out of the lane, and as I sped up to pass them, looked over at the folks inside the vehicle. I remember the car being small and bright, but cannot remember the make or color - maybe white or yellow. I do remember seeing a woman with long brown hair, wearing a ball-cap and mirrored sunglasses, lighting a cigarette, driving with a man in the passenger seat, resembling the guy in the video.

So does it seem he lives in the area instead of being long gone like people keep saying? I'm not usually a nervous person, but I'm out walking 2 - 3 times a day, and now it makes me nervous.

Talked to an officer today and he informed me that they had caught the nice young man that came in and stole my money. I asked him they could bring him by so i could talk to him nicely. Not sure if my request will be met, but thought everyone in the Broadlands should know that he is off the street as of now.

Thanks again for all of the support and well wishes.

Yeah!!! Hope they hold the loser without bond, that he pay full restitution and that he reimburse the state the cost of the helicopter...

We actually went and got dinner at your Broadlands location the night of the robbery. Your staff has always been terrific and we always get great food there so we will continue to support you as best we can. Thanks for the update!
