The other day my son's blue Mongoose bike was stolen from in front of a friends house on Hidden Pond Place. The bike has blue mag wheels and pegs for tricks. If you see this bike anywhere please reply to this thread.

I called Loudoun County Police and reported the incident. He said it was fairly common for bikes to be stolen and dropped off somewhere else near the thiefs destination. He also said it's unlikely they will recover it without a serial number, so I recommend everyone writes down the serial numbers of their bikes.

Thanks. That sounds more like a mountain bike, not a freestyle/bmx bike. This image is very similar to what the stolen bike looks like. White handlebars, white forks, probably black wheels that look slightly different than below. Did it look like this?

no, the seat was black. I guess it must be someone else's missing bike.

we always tell The Boy NOT to leave his bike in the front yards when he's at a friend's home. he didn't listen and WE stole his bike to see how he'd react. (we told the parents whose home he was in.) that was the longest 1/4 mile walk home ever and we let him suffer over it all day before telling him WE stole it, made him write a report that we could give to the police, made him aware of how much the bike costs and how we would need to cleanout his bank account to pay for it, etc.

we finally told him it was us, and how easy it would have been for someone else to as well. he lost his bike riding privvies for a few weeks on that one!

sadly, i think he probably STILL leaves his bike in front yards- especially when he's with a group of kids who all have done the same- gawd FORBID he draw attention to himself by doing something different! SOOOO- we call the parents wherever he is and say that we kow bike thefts are happenening in the hood so please remind Gino to put his bike away at their house.

we need to buy him a bike lock.
