I need to find a doctor that specializes in food allergies. Does anyone have any recommendations?

    Thanks!

Dr. Robert Wood at Johns Hopkins. It is a bit of a drive but he is the best! He actually wrote the book "Food Allergies for Dummies."

Robert A. Wood, MD is Professor of Pediatrics and International Health and Chief of Pediatric Allergy and Immunology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. After receiving his medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine, he completed his residency in pediatrics at the Johns Hopkins University, where he also completed an allergy and immunology fellowship. Dr. Wood is an internationally recognized expert in food allergy and childhood asthma and has published over 100 manuscripts in scientific journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA, Pediatrics, and the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, as well as 2 books and numerous book chapters. He is Deputy Editor of the journal Pediatric Allergy and Immunology, was Associate Editor of the Annals of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology, and has served on the editorial board of the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology. He is on the Board of Directors of the American Board of Allergy and Immunology. He personally cares for over 4,000 patients with food allergy and has a special interest in this topic as someone with a severe, life-long peanut allergy.

My kids see Wood, and he is truly an expert in the field. Plus, he's doing the research via Hopkins, so you get the latest news on food allergies. However, he's booking 6-9 months from now. So you may not be able to see him right away. Yet, he's worth the wait, imho.

Another vote for Dr. Wood. He's definitely worth the wait. I think the difference with him is that he specializes in food allergies, whereas most allergists cover all allergy issues.

We also see Dr. Wood. However, he's really booking out closer to 10 to 11 months. He's definitely worth the wait and the drive.

If you want someone in the DC area, I recommend Dr. Howard Pung at Georgetown.

Dr. Anne Miranowski is amazing. She cares for our 3.5 year old who has several allergies. She has offices in Fairfax and Lansdowne.
