    Hi everyone,

I'm on winter break till the end of January and I really want to join a gym, but I want something that is affordable and temporary -- something I could cancel (or put on "hold" till summer) once I head back to school at the end of January. Any recommendations?

Unless you need a pool, Fitness First is probably the place to go, $29/mo without a contract. Plenty of equipment to keep yourself fit over the summer.

There is a new Gold's Gym, they may have a promo going on. Depending on whether this is a franchise or corporate Gold's you might be able to use your membership at a Gold's near your school. From what I remember, the franchise gyms do not have transferable memberships or there is a small fee. At least this was how it was when I was using the Gold's in Merryifield. The membership would not carry to the Gold's in Ashburn on Rt. 7 because it was owned by someone else.

    Good luck!

Fitness First is running a promo now:

    • Transfer your existing membership for only $99
    • Only $19.95 per month
    • No commitment
    • Limited time offer
I went ahead and did it. It'll pay for itself in 8 months and I've been going to FF for a couple of years now so I figure I'll be there at least another 8 months.
