Homer, it doesn't surprise me that you would not want to mingle with the community ... it might mean using social skills ...

Really? What music is it? Would you like GWAR to play outside your house? What about what DC did with the Raceway in the neighborhood last year. They promised it would be quiet. The EPA had to step in. If I want music outside I'll go to Nissan or Wolftrap.

No it would mean mingling with some people on this forum who are selfish and petty. Like you.

Ok, so when did personal attacks become the norm Homer? Apparently your rules can be broken as long as it's not directed at you. Lord help the person who calls you petty and a pain, then it'd be a personal attack and where oh, where are the admins to moderate?

You used to be fun to read but you've just gotten to be a bore and curmudgeon. But whatever helps you get through your day[:X]

I have been looking forward to Clydes coming ever since I heard about it. I am all for it, however, if I lived across the street, I would be concerned about noise level if things were not done right. I would not want to hear music every single night when I need to go to sleep. It has nothing to do with being anti-social or mean spirited, it has to do with having to get up every weekday morning at 5:30 to get work. I don’t care so much on Fridays & Saturdays, but it would get old pretty quick every weekend and simply unbearable every day.

It does seem a bit selfish to completely disregard your neighbors concerns of daily noise from Clyde’s just so you can have a good time and mingle. The selfishness can really go both ways here, and when it is your investment of a $700K home, you may think differently. However, all in all, I am hoping that this is just a worse case scenario and that the noise coming from Clyde’s really will not be that loud or loud often. Clyde’s is still a good thing.

You really have to ask that? It became status quo when the Pro Hospital Gang was allowed to beat up on any dissenting view. I'm fought on every point I make with arguments with no merit so yeah I'm fed up with it and I'm not taking it from anyone on this forum anymore. In case you missed it, I'm always attacked and the moderators let it go b/c it is me. It's hard to be funny and interesting when you forsee the neighborhood being turned into another Sterling right in front of your eyes.

"If you enjoy it so much I hope someone builds a noise factory next to your house so maybe you'll have some empathy next time."

It's funny you should mention that. I hear Acme Industries has filed a concept plan with the County planning commission to build a noise factory/fake dog poop plant at the corner of Claiborne Pkwy and Broadlands Blvd. Now we will all be empathetic.

As you know nothing about me I'll consider the source .... I have been reading these boards, there are a few people who have NOTHING, and I repeat NOTHING positive to say about ANYTHING. Complaining is a hobby and some people's main source of entertainment. I hope its not indicitive of the population and mearly a small group who have nothing better to do.

Back at ya. You should practice what you preach. If I see something wrong I'm not going to hide in some hole cowering like a coward. I have plenty of positive posts which you obviously ignored or did not look hard enough for. Your opinion of me means about as much as UN has power to affect change.

lets see ... the list is:
    the hospital crazies/incinerator/noise
    the teenagers speeding
    the 45 mph speedlimit
    clydes noise
    dog poop
    dog walkers

I have a right to respond to this and then I'll stop unless the admins want to delete this post and the one it refers to.

Raising Community awareness about the issues is a way to fight the problem. One person can't do it alone. You have to raise awareness to fight them. All of the above are real problems to someone. Maybe not to you but it does affect real people. I raise the issues and defend those who will not speak out of fear because I like where I live and I want to keep it livable.

I, for one, won't go there even if they do build one. I had a horrible experience at the town center location on New Years Eve one year and complained to management who didn't seem to care and didn't offer any compensation.

It’s good to be positive, but that does not mean you have to turn a blind eye to something that could become a very negative situation for some of your neighbors. You can be positive about Clyde’s coming and still feel that Clyde’s should be responsible in making sure that their noise levels don’t impact your neighbors,-you know the ones you want to mingle with. Your mingling 1-2 nights/week, could be someone’s misery everyday.

It is not negative to make sure that doesn’t happen, just common decency to think of the impact your enjoyment has on others. I don’t think Homer is saying anything really that negative for him to be attacked like that. All in all, Clyde’s is a good thing and I think they are classy enough to not hurt those around them.

I suppose my point was (as Farscape put it) Clydes IS a good company and it is not in their best interest to annoy the community that would be their customer base. The concerts they put on in Reston are at a decent hour and are not "loud hippy music" ;) I didn't mean to imply "the neighborhood be Da**ed", it was more "community is a good thing" ...
