if your dog does swallow something poisonous, you can induce vomiting with a teaspoon of milk and a teaspoon hydrogen peroxide- that's the dosage for my 17 lb JTR... it works FAST so put the dog right outside after they lap it up. here's where i got the info:

he got ahold of a bottle of motrin and we weren't sure if he ate any, so we had to make him vomit.

DON'T KNOW IF IT WORKS ON CATS.

You can also call the national poison control center as they will advise on pet incidents. They can also advise you whether inducing is good or bad for the situation.

We did this when our mutt ate some matches.

true- checking first is important. there are some things they swallow that inducing could be even MORE harmful- sharp objects, items that may get stuck in their throat and make them choke...

If you use the hydrogen peroxide method, make sure you are using a 3% solution. It is possible to by hydrogen peroxide in higher concentrations.

3% hydrogen peroxide can be used to induce in cats also. It is the same dosage 5cc per pound as it is for dogs. An oral syringe would be recommended for both animals.

However, I do want to stress that inducing vomiting in dogs and cats should only be done on the advice of a pet health care professional.

No, it does not work on cats, so only use on dogs! Been my method for years.
