Looking out our back windows (which are parallel to Claiborne), it looks like acrid smoke coming from the townhouse(s) off Avonworth or the single family homes off Thorneblade.

My husband just passed through there and it's a house that backs up to Croson. We just hope everyone got out & everyone's safe, it seemed to go up fast.

We have some men's t-shirts and women's clothes, as well as some baby girls clothing up to 1 yr and a few boys clothes around 24 month size if the family needs them until they can buy some new clothes of their own. We had a house fire a few years ago and I know they won't really have time to go shopping - you're going through the house to see what can be salvaged. Let us know if we can help.

Thank you everyone, it was our house that brought all the attention this afternoon. My wife and I are fine however my 6 year old jack russel did not make it out of the house. Its a eye opener to lose everything you ever had with in a matter of minutes. No one was home at the time of the fire just the dogs. Our insurance is with USAA and an adjuster has already came out this evening to meet with us and we are already starting on our recovery process.

The cause of the fire is still inconclusive.

Thank you to the boy who saved my wifes Yorkie.

Spudstr, we are also very sorry for your loss. Please let us know what you need right now - household goods, clothing, etc. We will try to help out. Several families on our block were very concerned when we heard the sirens and saw the smoke so close by. Good luck to you.

A magnitude of loss! Sorry to hear that. USAA is great! I've often wondered what I'd grab if we had a fire. one thing we did inherit from Hubby's folks is a heavy duty fireproof safe that we keep in the garage. All of our important docs are in there. If anything this speaks to the need to videotape all your posessions/ valuable personal property for insurance purposes... Do you any place to stay?

Thanks, we are going into an apartment tomorrow and ordered a new bed. USAA was great and they advanced us 10k on our personal property claim to reimburse us already for our immediate needs/replacements. i.e a bed, clothing etc.

If anyone has USAA or has the ability to get USAA. They are great to work with.

I'd like to give a special thanks to American Eagle of Fair Oaks mall. My wife was shopping with her mother there on saturday and brought a huge mound of clothing to purchase, the girl at the counter asked if it was someones birthday or getting someone a new wardrobe? Jess's mother told the girl what had happened friday to our house and the girl got her manager and they gave us 20% off our entire purchase to help us out and told us to contact their district manager for some additional things. Express also did something very similar for my wife by taking the time and ringing her up on about two dozen purchases and maximizing the discounts etc which they normally would never do.

So if anyone needs any AE clothing, please goto fair oaks mall :)

So sorry for your loss! My wife uses a website to set up a scheduled meal plans for friends that have a new birth. People each sign up to make a single nights dinner for the family for a couple weeks following the birth. I can see something like that really helping your family in this tough time, since I'm guessing you may have been forced into eating out a lot right now.

If you feel comfortable sending me a PM with the address of the apartment you're staying at and a number of people in your family, we can set that up for you. Or maybe my wife already contacted you about that?

I'm sure we'll find no shortage of people willing to help out from our community.
