Isn't there an HOA rule that prevents door to door solicitation? There seems to be more of this lately and the sales tactics are more aggressive than ever.

No, but the county licenses these folks and they must carry and display it.

We are not a gated community so the HOA can not put any such rules in place. There is an entire article in the April newsletter pg 11 about solicitors from LCSO. http://www.broadlandshoa.org/node/24 Remember you do NOT have to answer the door if you do not know the person.

This is great, thanks for pointing out the news article. I'm actually a little excited to begin some reverse-harassment - demanding to see a solicitor's license and ID - the next time one of these clowns shows up.

It works too, once I mention that and they don't have one, off they go!

Sweet! I printed the article and taped it to the back of my front door!

I won't cringe as much when I hear the doorbell ring next time!

    THANKS!!!

I bought a little sign that sits by my door that says "no solicitation" and it seems to keep them away.

Wonder if that would work for those to stick the fliers in the door

how about a sign next to the door saying

"I shoot first, ask questions later. Ring at own risk"

No & No. Ours is right next to our doorbell. They don't care.

We've had a sign up for 5 years and we still get folks trying to sell us crap ring our doorbell. And in regards to the flyers, take a look at the folks putting them on your door; do you really think they take the time to make sure you don't have a 'no solicitation' sign? Heck, in many cases they don't even make it to my front door, they just stick the stuff on my garage door!

I noticed recently in Lansdowne they have signs posted in common areas that say "No Soliciting" and they are not a gated Community. I don't like having all these people walking through the neighborhood, regardless of whether they ring my doorbell or not.

what about the different news papers that are thrown on the driveway? Is there a way to opt out from that? I never open one and toss it in the recycling bin. What a waste..

Oh I wish I could get rid of those. They get thrown directly into a box for recycle day.

Really? I like both just for the local news and info. The one newspaper I could do without is the Washington Post......

There is an ordinace in Loudoun that they have to have the permit.

Also, put a no trespassing sign on your property. Once you tell them to leave, they must. If they do not, you can actually press charges and have them removed. This was advice given to me by LCSO. It is hard to do anything regarding the soliciation, but trespassing is something you can do about.

I have actually had someone taken off in a police car. I never actually pressed charges, but made my point.
