Okay, after many, many years we have gotten to the point where we have to leave the wonderful doctors at Broadlands Family Practice (the next available appt with a doctor is 6/14-12 days from now- for a relatively serious issue for a kid). This is after waiting over a week a few months ago for another issue (and another time recently when VERY sick that the appt was almost a week out). As much as we love the doctors, this is getting ridiculous. Anyone have a comparable practice (with less wait time for an appt) to share? You can PM me if you don't want to give away your wonderful doctor info to everyone...

I was just about to say that I have never had to wait to get into the Brambleton practice. Just yesterday morning I called with 2 sick kiddos and was in within a few hours. Try the Brambleton office.

Agree! BFP out of Brambleton seems to never have the wait times as the Ashburn office. The doctors work out of both locations too.

I have been taking my kids to Reston Town Center Pediatrics for almost 10 years too. They also have walk in clinic hours every weekday morning. Only time I have to call way in advance is for a well visit checkup.

Leesburg Sterling Family Practice has a few locations and will be opening in Southern Walk in July. Always have been able to get same day appoinments with them at their Lansdowne office.

We've used Ashburn Pediatrics since 2000. They have walk-in clinic at 7:30 weekdays for established patients for sick patients. I've never had to wait for a sick appointment.

We've been with Ashburn Pediatrics since 2002 and never had a problem getting an appointment for the kids, plus we love the walk-in hours (used those many, many times). We use Leesburg Sterling Family Practice for the adults and never had problems getting same day appts either.

Are we talking pediatrics or adults? I have different doctors than my kids, so I'm wondering which to recommend!

Ditto on that, we have been very pleased with Ashburn Pediatrics for the youngsters and see Dr. Ditaranto at Ashburn Medical. I'd highly recommend him, although it does take some time to get an appt. with him directly. For flu, strep, etc. I simply see the nurse and book the major reviews with him well in advance. He is among dying breed of professionals... never felt rushed, a pleasure to talk to, actually looks at long term history when diagnosing.. hard to find 'em like that anymore.

We received a letter that Dr. D. was leaving the practice. I think he's moving to Herndon? I can't remember. (My husband uses that practice, I don't.)

I asked him about that last month. The letter was an inquiry to see how many patients would be willing to move to a membership based practice. He's concerned with his ability to provide the quality of service he wants to provide given the volumes of people thaat move through the offices. Apparently a group of about 20 patients banded together and approached him with that idea. He's just testing the water to see response rate, and stated that the transition would take a long time if at all. To be honest, I'm not thrilled with the aspect of tacking on a membership fee to retain my physician, but I think I would do it because I am that happy to have him as my doc.

We've been with Leesburg/Sterling Family Practice for 31 years, for both of us and our 2 kids (who are now all grown up). They have always been wonderful.

I see a dr in Springfield - goes way back and works well with where i work.. However my doctor did the same type move a month or so ago. I find it funny that 20 people asked a doctor to charge them more. To be honest I can still get an appt with my current doctor within the day usually. The letter warns that over time it will get harder to get in and thats when Ill evaluate leaving.

It ridiculous that you would have to pay a yearly fee to get scene quickly. IMHO

I can see it being a simple law of supply and demand, and can't think of any other plausible method of addressing it. I've been through a number of doctors in the past and it is very hard finding someone you are completely comfortable with. Most of the patients in the office want to be seen only by him, so where does he go from there? Of course he could say ok, first come - first serve and just process people as they come in, providing high quality at the cost of the ongoing care componenet he wants to provide - and to me that's the important piece here.

But, we digress, and I don't want to hijack the thread. Only wanted to clarify the fact that he isn't 'moving' per se, and I think he's a great doc.

We are looking for both child and adult (we're all at Broadlands). And don't get me wrong-we love the doctors there. I must have incredibly bad luck (or be on the blacklist or something) because I'm never able to get an appointment within a reasonable amount of time lately. Thanks for all the recommendations.

Another note of praise for Leesburg/Sterling Family Practice! I personally prefer Paula Kukulich, F.N. P-C, but we have had appointments with a few MD's as well. My husband and I have received excellent care and referrals to specialists that we were very satisfied with. We have been to all 3 of their locations and have nothing but good things to say.
