How true. Compare Old Dominion Brew Pub. Smoke free and usually pretty busy.

Those are extremely expensive starting prices, especially for sandwiches.

    Extremely expensive? Compared to what?

A couple other menus to compare to:

    Old Dominion: http://www.olddominion.com/inner_pages/05_brewpub_home/05_brewpub_menus.html

    Clyde's: http://www.clydes.com/menus/index.html

    Sweetwater: http://www.greatamericanrestaurants.com/sweetMainCen/sweetsub/Dinner.cfm

They are all in the same ballpark.

We ate there Monday night. We had one of their free VIP passes which gave us two free meals from a limited menu.

The food was good overall. I liked the ribeye steak I had, and my wife liked her ribs, but our friends thought their meals were just average.
The prices are a bit higher than Outback.

Service was very good. The servers were friendly and efficient. One spilled some food on me and after apologizing profusely she summoned a manager who offered to reimburse me for dry cleaning. I think they handled it well.

I did find it too noisy. Uncomfortably so. I'll probably eat there once or twice a year, but Outback is better overall.

I found the food and atmosphere perfect for what it is.....a steakhouse and sports themed restaurant. And it's perfectly suited for a need here. Enough of the Asian and pizza places. I have enough sense not to go to Chuck E Cheese and then complain about all the noise and kids running amok because I don't have little kids (anymore). Why people take their children and puritanical attitude to a place like this and then complain about the music, the lack of changing tables in the men's room, etc. at a facility not aimed to attract that type of crowd is amusing.

There was no smoke whatsoever in the dining area. I just did the walk-through on the bar side and I don't remember it being smoky at all.

    In response to,

    From the owner's own mouth,

"...The sports theater will include 28 televisions, including 10 big screen televisions that feature major sports television packages. Two televisions will be devoted to Nickelodeon television programs for children.

"We're a family restaurant, first and foremost, and then a bar," Anderson said.

By all means, then, take the little toddlers to the interior bar and watch Nickelodeon on the big screen. Just don't complain when they've learned a new word or two from the clientele.

Settle down, Dutch. No one in this thread complained about the smoke, language, etc. at this place. Certainly no one espoused anything closely resembling a "puritanical attitude." The only thing people mentioned was that it was a little noisy -- something that has nothing to do with kids.

And anyway, the name of this restaurant is "The Original Steakhouse and Sports Theatre." What about this name implies that parents and children would not/should not be welcome? If you are talking about the Broadlands "PUB", OK, but you're out of line here...

I'm not implying kids shouldn't be welcome. In fact, I saw quite a few getting autographs from Redskins in there the other night. But there was an "I heard there is smoke in there" comment from someone who hadn't even been there. (The regular dining area is surprisingly smoke-free). However, the name does connote an establishment that (finally) caters to a somewhat more "rumbustious" crowd. It's not exactly a place where one should expect a purple dinosaur at the door shaking everyone's hand.

I ate there tonight with my wife. Bar area was nice (loved the projectors!), but it is WAY too expensive for a "sports bar".

Our dinner came out to be ~$62 with tip.

All we had was two entrees, 2 drinks ($3 whisky sour and $9(!) apple martini), and a shared dessert.

I had the Fajitas which were forgettable. My wife had a 7oz filet, which was decent.

    I'll give it a 6.0/10.

    Dutchml,

I don't have children, but if it's too noisy, I won't go (I'm only 42, so no old fogey statements). And if it's smoky at all, I won't go. I didn't kill my ear drums (yet) and I have chronic sinus trouble. So, I don't care what they call themselves, I don't care about the rest of the demographics. I just wanted to hear from folks who'e been there to see if it's the type of establishment I will support. I don't say what should or shouldn't be, that's outside my span of control. I just say where I will or will not go.

hopefully more of you will complain or give it moderate or low "ratings" and not go...

it is a well needed addition to this area for the young adults of this community that like to go out and have fun with friends and do some responsible drinking.

finally a bar that is big, has a great happy hour ($2 32oz beers), a friendly staff, and a bunch of video screens that you can actually see.

went there last night and had a great time.

I was a little disappointed in the beer selection, especially on draft. I'd like to see a micro-brew (maybe Old Dominion Ale). They did have Guinness though. The music seemed lower tonight - very reasonable. It was packed. I will be definitely be back on a regular basis. I think it's a great addition to Ashburn. I agree with Skimout - a well needed addition to this area (even for the "not-so-young" adults.
