So you let others make decisons for you? Tsk Tsk

Go YOURSELF one Friday night, even if it is just a walkthru. YOU will know if the environment is or is not to YOUR liking. Your ears and sinuses should be able to handle that.

Actually, I've been to a place or two that I didn't stay for dinner. The bennigans by the chantilly expo center is one. You are correct, though; I do intend to see for myself -- I'm just waiting till the hype is over.

Unfortunately Zansu, with the dearth of average to above-average family style restaurants in the immediate Ashburn area that can handle large groups, I do not see the crowds diminishing any time soon or maybe not at all.

Did anyone notice if they offer call-ahead seating?

Not sure if they have call-ahead or not but here's their # - 571-223-0100. Ate there last night and the wait was about 40 minutes. I think it was mainly due to a very large party of soccer players/parents/coaches. Burgers were very good and the cheese wrap appetizer was deeeeeee-lish. Noise level wasn't too bad and we didn't notice any smoke/smell at all. Will definitely go back.

What's the deal with people smoking CIGAR's in these restaurants out here??? I can deal with a wiff or two of cigarette smoke but cigars generate so much more of a problem. I cant believe people dont realize/don't care that they are gonna piss other people off.

In fact I was in the Broadlands Pub the other night and some guy was sitting at the bar puffing away on a big fat stogie.
Both him and his seemingly drunk friend wound up having such a good time that they both fell backwards on their bar stools and went crashing down to the floor. Of course everyone in the place stopped and saw what was happening. Instead of cutting them off and booting them out, the staff just helped them right back up to their drinks.
To continue my perfect night there, about ten minutes later one of the waitresses decided to crank up the music to ear splitting levels because she happened to like a song that was playing. I'm starting to think the Broadlands Pub is run by a fraternity.

went to the new place last night. It was really packed, so we went to a movie instead and came back later that night. Good food, and reasonably priced. Once the novelity of a new resturant is over, should be fairly easy to get in. I will say this, this will diffently make the broadlands pub step it up a notch. They food/beverages are really below par.

Good to hear the Steakhouse is busy... it means residents are giving it a try.

We went on opening night, 11/2, and it was pretty good. Thought the prices were moderate - in other words, in line with what we have paid at other places we enjoy going.

We both had steaks (rib eye and strip) and a glass of wine each. Bill was around $55.

Over all - It's just nice to have some other options. I'm sure we've all had the Sweetwater wait of 90 minutes, even when you call ahead.
So having the Steakhouse and the San Vito just across the street (almost) is a nice change. And hopefully, as more open (with another due when the rest of the shopping center is built) the waits at each on those busy nights will deminish.

Did not notice the smoking or loud music on our visit. Did notice that the service was very good, very attentive. Even the manager came by to ask how things were - but it was opening night, so not a surprise.

PS - Oh and DANG those are big screens in the Bar...(However, technically they're not big screen TV's, but just screens with LCD projectors....)

Stopped in yestarday evening for a beer in the bar. Stayed about 30 minutes. When I got home, my wife wouldn't let me within 20 feet of her due to the reek of smoke in my clothes. Yes, I know it's a bar, but I still wish it was non-smoking!!
By the way, Happy Hour, 22 oz, draft Guinness for $2.75. As the song goes.........."heaven.....I'm in heaven......":)

That's also why there are many other alternative places to eat at. Appreciate the comments about smoke and smoking because now I know better than to waste my money eating at a restaurant that smells like an ash tray. [B)]

The "non-smoking" dining area is completely separated from the "smoking allowed" bar area.

The owner of the Broadlands Pub is going to make a part of the pub non-smoking once the addition is finished next week.

Wish Loudoun and VA would become more progressive in their non-smoking policies for restaurants and bars. Just got back from SF the other day and all the restaurants (most with bars) that we went to were completely non-smoking and it didn't seem to limit the crowds or the enjoyment the people were having.

Well, by golly, that's why we all have a highly developed brain that empowers us to make choices that are congruent with our beliefs. Just don't think your beliefs are any better than anyone else's.

What part of my comment says anything about my belief being better than someone elses?? All I stated was there were alternate places to eat at -- that is my stated choice.

Seriously, Dutch, I don't understand your posts somtimes. Maybe my brain isn't highly developed enough.

Did you perceive GCyr's or Chsalas' posts as a slam against you? If so, I don't see it. Or did you just feel like posting a smart-aleck comment? Seems to me that GCyr simply commented that since the bar at the Steakhouse is so smoky, s/he would rather go someplace else. What is wrong with this post? And where did GCyr or Chsalas imply that their beliefs were better than anyone elses?

Not flaming you, G. Just weary of the holier-than-thou comments in general. The "progressive in their non-smoking policies for restaurants and bars" comment above rankled me. They tried that in Maryland and there are quite a few small business owners out of business because of that policy. I'm sick and tired of politicians and the pious few who think they know what's best for the rest of us.
