As an alternative in case you can't find one...we bought a used/refurbished sax from Melodee Music in Leesburg. It ended up costing about the same as renting one for the year (rental + insurance), and then you can sell it when you are done. My son loved band so much at Eagle Ridge that he is actually doing it again in 7th grade.

    Good luck!

I have an alto sax that I am looking to sale. It was used for 2 years. It is a Jupiter Capital Edition. It is a step up from the basic student model. List price was $1295. Paid $800. Will sale for $500. It is in excellant condition and comes with a hard case (case has a few scratches), extra gel neck strap and a few other extras. I keep planning to put it on Craigslist but have not done so yet. Let me know if you are interested.

When our daughter decided that she wanted to play the sax, we looked at the rental costs over the years and decided it was cheaper to buy one. We also decided to get one that was a little better than the basic student model so that when she got to high school, we would not have to upgrade. The plan would have worked well but she decided to give up the sax and stick with piano and sports instead of band.
