Is Pacific Boulevard open all the way to Nokes Blvd?

I need to go to Dulles Town Center regularly at 5-5:30pm and was wondering if this is the best route to take.

    Thanks for any input.

why wouldnt you just go up to 28 and take it north to Nokes? Theres really no traffic on it after Waxpool. With Pacific you have all the lights and stop signs and eventually a one lane road

Yes it is open all the way, but I wouldn't recommend it using it to get to DTC, stick with Waxpool to 28 then Nokes. Returning, I'd use Nokes to Pacific just to avoid merging from 28 onto Waxpool.

Keep in mind when coming back Pacific Blvd some lame brain traffic engineer made that a right on GREEN only. So if there is a lot of traffic on Pacific from Nokes/shopping center you can wait several light cycles to get back out onto Waxpool.

x2. Best way is to take 28 and exit on wax pool. I use to commute this way daily -- avoid the wegmans/target traffic, you will be glad you did.

    Thanks for everyone's input.

Hearing the comments, I feel that Pacific Blvd is wasted - it should have been a good alternative to Rte 28. I have experienced the traffic coming out from Target/Pacific Blvd - just turning right to Waxpool takes 2-3 green lights.

The traffic buildup can be bad at the Pacific/Waxpool intersection coming from the direction of Nokes, but there are other times when it's easy as pie. I think it works best in the mornings and evenings (after rush hour) but afternoons are to be avoided. That's been my experience, anyway.

Atlantic Blvd. looks near completion to the intersection of Church Rd., which will be a nice alternative way to access the Best Buy/Bed, Bath and Beyond/Wal-Mart/Lowe's shopping area.

What is the status of the Pacific Blvd extension south towards Rt 606? When the Raytheon deal was announced, the Board of Supervisors voted to extend Pacific Blvd between Dresden Street and Relocation Road.

Very good question. I've got a few, as well. When is Shellhorn Rd. going to continue east past Loudoun County Parkway and connect with Lockridge and Moran? With the idiotic decision to locate the "Ashburn" Post Office in Dulles/Sterling, that road would help.

When is Claiborne Parkway going to connect with Loudoun County Parkway? And when is Loudoun County Parkway North going to connect with Loudoun County Parkway South? Why in the hell would you pave half of Smith Switch Road but not the other half? It took nine months for that fiasco and just the other day, the state paved 20 feet of road at the bike path crossing in ONE DAY.

vacliff, if you are elected to the BOS, we expect you to bring some logic and common sense to the ridiculous road infrastructure in this area.

My understanding is that this is not the permanent location of the retail USPS facility. That location will handle all the delivery and sorting functions in the long-term and the retail and counter services functions in the short-term while they settle on a permanent location for retail and counter services.

The USPS is looking at 2 locations for the retail location; one at the Safeway shopping center in Broadlands (Broadlands Village Center) and the other at the Shoppes at Ryan Park.

seems kind of fitting when they take the most hacked up part of the county's road network... and decide to throw the postal office back there again :)

I used the Post Office counter inside Global Foods yesterday. Very convenient if you don't want to go out to the relocated office.

Or, just illegally turn right onto Waxpool at the main part of the intersection, if your typical NOVA sense of entitlement permits.

Glad to see the motorcycle cop ticketing people for this last weekend.

I intend to. Please read the transportation portion on my website (Keircefor supervisor.com) and my letter to the editor printed in last week's Loudoun Times Mirror. I address these issues.

To answer some of your questions, Shellhorn crossing of the Broad Run was removed from the Countywide Transportation Plan by the BoS last year! Huge mistake in my opinion.

Claiborne needs to be finished, in the short-term, from Croson to Ryan Rd.
This is not proffered so is just sitting there unfinished. Brambleton has proffered the completion from the current ending point to tie in to Loudoun County Parkway and Rte 606. This is probably still several years away.

Agree that not finishing the small section of Smith Switch Rd, especially after closing it for several months, was ridiculous.

And don't get me started on the fact that Belmont Ridge was finally widened on both sides of the Greenway, but no one (until I started pursuing it with the county) thought that the bridge over the Greenway needs to be expanded to four lanes! So we're stuck with the swerves and reduced speed limit because no one at the county knew of this or thought it was a problem!?! Sheesh!

You are correct. I will see if I can find out the timeline for this.

Thanks for checking on the status.

With all of the fighting last year over the number of lanes for Belmont Ridge Road, I must have missed the removal of Shellhorn from the CTP. I was hopeful for at least the chance of another east/west route from Broadlands.

There still is....it's called Rte789 extended. It's a bit further north on Loudoun County Parkway. It will tie in to Waxpool Road just west of the Regency, before the Verizon building. There's an application working it's way through county staff now that has proferred to build the bridge over the Broad Run.

Pacific Blvd is expected to be completed to Relocation Drive by the end of 2012.

Can we try and stick to one way of spelling for the street signs here in Broadlands, as you drive down Croson or Park Glen the spelling is different.

It adds to the charm of the area.... Sort of like driving on roads that when going stright through and intersection changes names.....

    Example -
    Church/Waxpool/Farmwell Hunt/Ashburn Farm Pkwy/Siclon - Changes names 5 times in 13 miles...
