School starts Aug 29...

    So Virginia must have repealed the "Kings Dominion" law that kept schools from opening before labor day. But I missed that, and I had been operating under the assumption that my first would start KG in Sept. Good thing my vacation plans don't have to change. Am I the only one who is totally clueless on this??

    We just moved from Richmond and they are still starting after labor day there. I think I read that Loudoun County has a special "weather exception." Not sure what that means though. The thing that got me was half day kindergarten here. My youngest starts K in the fall and I kind of thought I was done with kids being home during the day.

    no - law is in place. there are provisions for how districts can work around it under certain constraints.
