I am looking for a mothers group to attend. I have a newborn and 4 year old and I am in need of some adult conversation! Unfortunately, we are not from VA so all the mommies I know live elsewhere. Any suggestions?

There are two new mom's grou
ps, based on your newborn's age, at the Leesburg Hospital on Wednesdays and Thursdays. http://www.thebirthinginn.org/e_classlist.cfm I attend them and they are a great way to meet moms and get questions answered.

I believe there is also a group that meets at the community center once per month.

From what I understand, the International MOMS club is specifically for stay-at-home moms. I work full-time, but don't work on Fridays (the day of the meetings), but didn't feel I could participate due to that specific qualifier that appeared in all the intro materials supplied to me.

There are moms who work parttime that are members. The main thing is that most activities occur during the day on weekdays so if you work M-F you don't really get much out of it.

I liked doing the child centered activities (meet & greets, field trips, library outings, park visits, pool get-togethers) offered by the MOMS club. I liked the Moms Night Out activities (bunco, happy hours, fashion preview, etc). But I found that the true life-saver was the weekly playgroup. They will match you with other moms who have kids about the same age and you take turns hosting the playdate at your house. It is so nice to be able to share your concerns or joys with other who are in the same boat. It can be rather hard to connect with neighbors who have older kids when you have little ones so this wonderful. I have made some very good friends that way.
The other benefit is the google group made up of the 3 Ashburn Moms clubs. We are constantly asking each other for advice or opinions. Just last month several people had concerns/questions about ticks. The elementary schools sent home a pamphlet from the Loudoun County Department of Health but if your kids weren't school age you wouldn't have known about it. The questions about ticks turned into an evening informational session with speakers and hand-outs. So everyone benefited.
I would encourage you to join and see if you like it. I have really enjoyed my 3 yrs with the group.
