In a Parkdale model home? I looked in the garage and the basement, both unfinished. Both places only have one outlet as far as I know and they are not GFI ones. I changed the lightbulbs today but the light still didn't come on tonight.

In our townhouse it is in the utility room next to the furnace.

Can you plug a light into the outlet and the garage? If it works then, the GFI is probablly OK and your sensor on the outside maybe covered with snow or dirty. Try cleaning it and see if it works. If it doesn't, then you can get a replacement sensor from Home Depot and they are easy to replace. BUT TURN OFF THE POWER before you attempt to replace.

    Good Luck.

Ours is in the basement - where our utility room is, there's a GFI. Our sensor needed replacing when that didn't work and we were good.

The sensor is usually next to the house. It's a rectangle box with a round "button" looking thing stick out the front of it. The box could be gray in color and the pipe that connects to it should be coming up from the ground.

that probably explains why my lamp post has been on continuously since the snow storm. since the sensor is covered with snow, it must think that it's dark 24/7.

Can you tell me exactly where in the basement? Our basement is not finished and I really think there is only one outlet down there, but if there is another hidden in a corner it would be helpful to know where.

    Thanks

Try your garage outlet. That's were mine was when my lightpost went out and somehow the electrical line got wet under the ground and tripped the GFI until we fixed the line

I love these forums! The outlet on my front porch stopped working during Snowmageddon. I could see that the circuit wasn't tripped, but that's as far as my electrical knowledge would take me. I was ready to call an electrician until I read this thread and found my outside GFI.

For anyone who might be interested, I have a Fitz and mine is the outlet below the circuit boxes.

P.S. A big thanks to all who maintain these forums. They really are a wealth of (mostly) useful information!

Not tucked in a corner... It's in the middle, sort of by the bottom of the stairs in the open part. Ours is finished so we now have tons of outlets, but this is in the middle. Not far from the bathroom, assuming yours is plumbed for the bathroom in the same spot as ours is.

Rich said he'll be happy to come over and take a look if you'd like!

Thank you for the help Susan. The stud that the electric outlet is attached to says GFI, duh, but there aren't any buttons to reset on that outlet so I don't get it.

Could it be on a circuit breaker? We have a very old VM model and ours is in our breaker box.

Anyone have a Fitzgerald and know where the GFI is located for the outside outlets? I read the post for a Fitz but it's not in an outlet under our circuit box. All of the outside outlets stopped working when we put up the Christmas lights. Been searching for days for the GFI and cannot locate it. Found several in the house (kitchen and basement bathroom), but those were fine. Did see a fuse labeled GFI:Outside/basement and flipped it just in case, but that didn't solve the problem. Wondering if there is something I am missing before calling an electrician.

We're in a Fitz and my husband said to try the 1st level powder room if you don't see one in the garage; we have no clue where ours is. I also see 2 from where I'm sitting in the kitchen - at the desk and at the "butlers pantry". Good luck!

Thanks for taking the time to respond - found the one in the basement bathroom (and two more in the kitchen) but they don't seem to be the culprit. None in the main level power room.
