    Hello!

We've recently moved into the Broadlands community from the Oakton/Fairfax area. I'll be needing a preschool for my youngest daughter (will be 4) for next year. I currently drive her over to Truro Preschool in Fairfax, where my oldest daughter also attended, and I love that school! But, it IS quite a drive. :/ I'm considering just keeping up the drive next year, but feel like I should at least explore other options closer to our new home.

I'm looking for a half-day, at least 3 hour, 3 or 4 day program for 4 year olds. Religious affiliation not necessary, but acceptable. Her current school is a Christian preschool.

Any parents with recommendations and experiences they wouldn't mind taking the time to share, I sure would appreciate it! Thanks so much in advance...

Our daughter attended Open Arms Preschool for two years (3 & 4 year old preschool) and really enjoyed it. We were impressed by the program and never had any issues.

Best Wishes and WELCOME to Broadlands!

My kids who are now at Mill Run both attended Celebration Preschool and we were very happy with it. At the time it was the only NAEYC accredited preschool in Ashburn. (There may be others now... I don't know.)

we had good experiences with Open Arms (Church St in Sterling), Winnie the Pooh (Belmont Ridge), and Golden Pond (Ashburn Village Blvd).

Golden Pond was were we put one of ours for private K, while the others we used for preschool. We liked them all.

I can't say enough good things about HOPE Preschool. My daughter is in her second year there and attends four afternoons a week.

My kids are currently in the 2-3 year old program at My Favorite Place Preschool and I have already registered them for next year. It's an in-home preschool and the owner is fantastic. LOVE her! She has really helped them develop Check out her website: http://www.myfavoriteplacepreschool.webs.com/

My kids are currently in the 3-year-old two-day/half-day program at Open Arms, and we've been very happy with the school, and with their teachers.

My 3-year old daughter attends Open Arms (Lutheran at corner of Waxpool&Claiborne). She loves it so much. The teachers have been great and the staff very responsive to our concerns. She does the Full day program but only 2 days a week.

I'm also wondering if any of these home places offer ALL DAY programs? Most seem to be the 3 hour standard which sometimes isn't helpful:) Thanks for posting your question, I'm looking too!

The Virginia Academy (a.k.a. Ark Preschool) http://www.virginia-academy.com/ is another one to consider. Click on the Preschool link on the left. They have both half day and full day programs. Most likely you'll get on the waitlist, they almost always get filled up in apr/may for the following academic year, but if you can find someone who has a child currently attending to refer you, they do give that preference and might squeeze you in if they have room.

There are a lot of preschools in the area, of all types! A great resource is the preschool forum organized by the MOMs Club, where parents talk about the preschool their children attended. It's coming up next Saturday and there are the details:

The Ashburn MOMS Club will be holding the annual preschool forum on Saturday, January 21st from 9:00 to 12:00 pm at the Brambleton Community Center at 42645 Regal Wood Drive, Ashburn, VA 20148

The forum is free and is a community service project offered by the MOMS Club of Ashburn. All are welcome. Mothers (or Fathers) from the community will speak about their experiences with their child's preschool. Previous forums were highly appreciated
and a fabulous way to give insight into what the schools are like beyond the official sales pitch. A spreadsheet with information about local preschools including contact information, tuition, education/ experience level of preschool teachers, ect.. will be available at the forum.

Please contact Robyn Resh Davinic, co-President of MOMS Club of Ashburn -
Broadlands area if you have any questions at: robyndavinic@hotmail.com.

Thank you all so much for the recommendations!! Glad there are so many good options around here. Looks like I've got quite a few tours ahead of me.

Thank you also for posting the info about the forum! I had seen links about previous years forums online and was hoping it was being held again this year. I'll definitely be attending.

    Thanks again everyone!
