Bloom, Bottom Dollar, & Food Lion Closing 113 Stores!

    Hi,

First of all, hope everyone has doing well and had a great holiday season. Our kids are growing like crazy!:2thumbs:

We have been super busy with our farm on and our new online Mennonite Bulk Foods and Bakery storefront. Business is going like "gangbusters".

I ran across an article about the closing of the Food Lion stores which includes Bloom and Bottom Dollar stores. It was stated that Food Lion will close 113 stores within 30 days.

Some of the N VA stores that are slated to close on the list includes Bloom stores in Ashburn, Fairfax, Herndon, and Leesburg. Other stores are listed. Just click on the links in the online article.

See web site link for details--

By the way, if interested in our product line, PM me. Thanks again.

Delhaize lost my business when they converted most of the Food Lion stores to Bloom. I used to shop at Food Lion at least once per week. With Bloom it's more like once every 2 months. Bloom had the same stuff as Food Lion but with higher prices, which never made sense to me. Now the stores that will remain open will be converted back to Food Lion. It's ridiculous.

There are too many grocery stores in Ashburn. This certainly doesn't surprise me. I'll miss the Bloom since it was one of two stores within walking distance to my house, but thankfully I still have GLOBAL FOOD (my favorite market).

I am at Global Food 1 or 2 times a week. They have the best produce... and affordable, too.

That sucks, I liked going to that Bloom from time to time. I've actually never been in Global Food but based on the postings above I may try them.

I get 90% of my meat and half of my veggies from Global, plus all of my seasonings and spices, Indian bread, greek yogurt, sake, and all kinds of great international food from there. I still go to Wegmans and Costco but it's so nice having Global Food right around the corner.

As the others have said, Global is the best. Today, I picked up a beef rib-eye large roast for $3.99 a pound, roma apples for $.69 a pound, red leaf lettuce for $.99 a head and fresh parsley 2/$.99.

They also have a bag of chicken drumsticks for $.79/pound and good prices on bulk spices.

Also, american eggplant for $.99/pound (I have to clarify as they also had indian and chinese eggplant as well) and beautiful red bell peppers for $1.99/pound.

    Good stuff!

Absolutely love Global, BUT, I can't wait to get out of there some days. The smell emanating from the meat and fish section is odious!

Quality goods shouldn't smell that way.
