Can anyone recommend a local instructor who offers one-on-one pilates? Ashburn Pilates seemed promising, but I've left two messages in a week's time. :rolleyes

Are you a Sport & Health Brambleton member? Olena is the mind/body director there and she offers private & semi-private sessions. I've been working with her and she is fantastic.

No I'm not. In fact I do not want to join a gym. You're the second person who has reccomonded her, so she must be fantastic!

I suffer from severe sacriollitic joint dysfunction, and the instructor will need to work with my PT, who has recommended Pilates. My initial motive is to strenghthen my core for back pain relief.

If she can work privately without me having to pay additional gym membersip costs, that would be optimal. :)

Next time I see her, I'll ask if she does private sessions outside of the gym or ask if she can recommend someone.

Olena is great! It would be well worth it to join just for her and the pilates studio. You could also do private yoga there too.

I suffer from chronic back pain, due to a condition called Sacroiliitis. I'm unable and medically restricted to perform a majority of exercises and daily activities. So the Precore elliptical and other fitness equipment remain untouched in our "work-out" room. There are very few yoga poses my physicians will condone. So joining a gym would not be in my best interest.

A personal Pilates instructor is my goal at this point. Thank you for your recommendations and offers to help!! Kindly PM me if need be. Thanks again. :)

I just found out that you don't have to be a member of Sport & Health to join the Pilates program there. They have 'member fees' and 'non member fees' (which of course..are higher). There are private one on one sessions as well as group sessions (which are less expensive).

I don't have the flyer with me at work, but if you call S&H i'm sure they can get you intouch with Olena. (I believe it is called Brambleton Pilates, so you may find that on google)

I highly recommend Ashburn Pilates, they are wonderful. Been going there for years and they do private sessions as well.

Thanks to all for your recommendations. I did get a hold of Asburn Pilates, and have my first session scheduled. I'm very excited!
