Do you have a system design to work from?

pulling the wires is the easy part. As Sasha commented above, the DESIGN is what you really need. Are you working with the current contractor who is finishing the basement? Is a home theater already part of the design? Acoustics? Lighting? Seating? all play a part in a good home theater experience.

I did my own, after painstakingly designing all aspects of what I wanted, and then adding several extra wires/cables for "what-if's" and future expansion.

I wish I knew of a local designer, but i do not.

You can, however, find a wealth of information here: www.avsforum.com

and also obtain the services of Dennis Erskine, who is highly praised by the forum

Yah, just do it yourself...but use conduit and install several pullstrings for future use. If it's just A/V cable (low/no voltage) you don't have to have it done by a licensed electrician.

Ok looks like I got to really pull up my sleeves here , The basement contractor is not doing anything for the Home theater (its outside the contract) .

    Thanks for all the inputs....

I saw on the other thread that you are using Premier Home Services for your basement (I used them for building a deck/porch and would recommend them for that).

Have you asked Al Barney about the wiring? I believe he does some Home Theater work (shows it on his website). If the original intent was to finish the space for a home theater, why didn't Al Barney design it that way? Did he make you an offer to do it? Was there a mis-communication?
